It's Adam Koralik here and today we're checking out the RetroTink 2X Pro M, or Multiformat, by Mike Chi. It takes RGB based component signals and converts them to HDMI. It also supports composite and S-Video as well. However, the primary point is to allow 480p, 576p, and 720p support as well!

There are three scart types that should be addressed in the description so that some players aren't disappointed.

1. A scart adaptor - this is not scart - It is simply AV cables in an RCA to scart connection adaptor.
2. A regular scart lead. This is the same as above but with an actual (7 pin) scart connection. Quality wise, it's still just an AV cable.
3. RGB Scart - this is the true high quality scart. Usually 21 pin.

Literally the best explanation of what it does and what the demographic should go for, I was so confused on which one I needed for my 6th Gen and no one was giving straight forward answers until you came along! You are a life saver man

I have component cables for my GameCube, PS2 and Wii, so this is actually relevant to my interests. Been tempted to pick one up; thanks for clearing up some confusion I've been having.
  • Great review, exactly what I was looking for 👍 I'm loving how retro gaming has become really popular lately.

6 degrees of Kevin Bacon... Glad you are back. Wishing you well through the holidays. The first holidays without a parent is the hardest.

I remember asking you for like 3 years in a row what component to HDMI converter to get and you'd always say there really aren't any. Looks like there's finally one

I find it hilarious that nobody noticed the 720p problem until you had to test all its features.

Another excellent video explaining the product. I was about to buy the pro but now that I saw your video I'm now getting the pro m since I mostly use it for my ps2.

Thank you for making this video. I look forward to buying the OSSC Pro. The prototypes are out.

This had me confused for awhile, so using this review I was able to figure it out, but I still had to listen closely to really get what I was trying to understand. This isn't what you need if you have 6th gen consoles. The RetroTink Pro will work great with 6th gen consoles, if my understanding is correct. The ONLY difference is that the M supports 480"p" instead of just 480i, which all 6th gen consoles do, and thus should work fine on the Pro. -- Just seemed like talk about this device is overly focused on which console, instead of which signal. Luckily this went in depth enough I was able to figure it out.

I am going to gift this retrotink 2x M to a friend that has all Nintendo consoles from NES to the Wii and can't connect anything to his new hdmi only TV. It might not be the best for the composite of the older consoles but it works and the Wii can connect with 480P making everything work with one upscaler witch is great !!!

Needed this video! I have the OG Retro TINK 2x and am ready to upgrade. I will get the Pro. That's all I need.

Not sure where the metrics land, but was nice that this wasn't done with the premier feature. Sometimes I'm unable to start watching for a few minutes and I either rewind and miss the whole point of the chat or wait til it's over to avoid said happening. Loving all the content this year Adam. Hope you're staying safe and doing your best to heal from your family issues. <3

Getting a new 4K tv on Friday, I’ll make sure to pick this up when I can to breathe some life into my small PS2 library
