How To Take Care Of Yourself As A Mom // Giving yourself what you NEED

In this video I go through some of my own strategies for how to take care of yourself as a mother. As a mom of SEVERAL small kids, I have had to navigate and learn in the area of self care, and I am giving you 3 of my top strategies.

Taking care of yourself as a woman and mom can be tough, but it's not impossible! I recommend keeping it simple, regular, and dropping the comparison trap, because as they say, comparison is the thief of joy!

Kudos mama! I'm a single mom to twins, I work two jobs, do YouTube and blogging! I have been prioritizing self-care more! I definitely schedule it because otherwise, I just wont do it! Its really important because it allows you to be the best version of yourself for your kids! Look, napping is a must lol!
  • Hi Lisa thankyou for sharing this, I am a stay home mom. I have to work on giving myself more time to myself as I've been stressing myself out,I want to be healthy and i also need to take care of myself so that I can be a happy wife and mom to our 11 year old daughter 😊

I just found you on YouTube and without you knowing it, you gave me permission to really be true to myself. I am starting a YouTube channel and have been trying to make my videos perfect. You have freed me from perfection and to just be who I am by being a great example of this yourself. Thank you so much for your energy and authenticity!

But what if you feel guilty about self care? Or if you try and schedule it but your husband doesn't let you do it comfortably or let's you leave feeling at peace. Instead I feel like when I get back I have to do everything again and let him be free and relax...

As a first time Mom of an 8 week old, this is so helpful!
  • I always want to spend time with my 2 yr old, so I come home at 830am from a night shift, from a job that is an hour away and then spend at least 2 hrs with her as soon as I get home. It cuts into my sleep and I'm so exhausted, but I don't want her to feel like I don't want to see her. Sometimes I get 5hrs, but anytime I sleep it's broken anyway....idk. I guess I'm saying I feel guilty when I sleep. I start my day at 630pm and up til the next day about 1030- 1130am...it's a cycle.

Love how you share the "comparative game" that we moms usually endure! and the connection with self care

I'm 15 and my mom has 7 kids. I'm the second oldest while my brother is 17. I'm trying to force her to take care of herself because sadly I can tell she's not caring for herself at all. I truly think she's depressed but she still loves us. Sometimes she smells really really bad and I know nobody's there to help her... What should I do? I was wanting to install rules and try setting a routine for my younger siblings but this caused a lot of conflict between my mom and myself. She says that it it shouldn't be my worry but I honestly think setting one would be highly beneficial. Ps I'm in foster care and covid is going on so I could barely see her😔...
