Fun fact: If you consider the lore we learn in both Unova and Hoenn... Giovanni was supposed to be champion! If he hadn't gone off to focus all his attention on Team Rocket in his quest to become the strongest [with big implications that involves Mewtwo; or finding something as strong as Mewtwo]; when Kanto's previous champion [strongly implied to be Oak based on his and Agatha's statements, and the dummied out Oak postgame fight; as well as Kukui being the placeholder champion in Alola] retired, leaving the position vacant, the position of champion is offered to the strongest Gym Leader . Who was Giovanni. Who was MiA. We know the position was vacant because if at the start of the game you look at a pc in Oak's lab, you can see an e-mail about it from Lance!

Im pretty sure he has what it takes to get the job, but i would choose lance to beat him in a battle
