When MotorTrend tested the Model S Plaid in 2021, they broke all production car records. 0-60 in 1.98 seconds — with a long list of unique variables, including a prepared surface with VHT (glue), and deleting the first foot of rollout. Astonishingly, the Lucid can match that number, on a public road! The Lucid Air Sapphire's acceleration is certifiably bonkers.

Jason Fenske and Jason Cammisa will talk through the various systems that make this car possible, and how it achieves such insane results. Questions covered include:
1). Why is the 1,234 HP Lucid so much faster than the 1,111 HP Lucid?
2). Why is the Lucid's 0-60 time (acceleration) faster than its 60-0 time (braking)?
3). Why are the fastest EVs the heaviest EVs?
4). What is your favorite thing about the Lucid Air Sapphire?
5). What is your biggest complaint of the Lucid Air Sapphire?
6). Is the Lucid Air Sapphire worth $250k, especially considering the Tesla Model S Plaid is $90k?

  • *Full disclosure* - this episode happened mostly by coincidence; we both happened to be at the same event, and for road drives you typically need a driving parter (not enough cars for every outlet to have their own), so Jason agreed to be in the video. That said, I'd love to get your honest feedback on it. If coincidentally we are are at future events together, I'm happy to try and make it happen again, if folks like the format. What would you want to see happen differently next time? And to those who watch the whole video, you the MVP, thanks!!

Q: What's the only thing better than the 2JZ? A: The 2JSons Seriously, you two work really well together. You both should consider making content together more regularly.
  • @ManAcadie
The Jasons have great chemistry. I would genuinely enjoy a car review channel with the two of them on a regular basis. 😂
  • @milesj6064
I have to agree 100% with all the other commentors, that the two of you together is amazing, I love Jason's Hagerty stuff, how he blends humor with education, and I love Jason's Engineering Explained videos for the nerdy side of learning how things work. Definitely would love to see you both do another collaboration together and see if it works out the same. Always good to have two educated guys discuss a subject and see where it goes.
  • You need to have Jason on for the car videos more often. You are great together.
  • @forrysc
Good chemistry and excellent self deprecation between these two. If they joined up for a series I'd watch it for sure.
  • @ryanhoffmann9341
I would listen to these guys for a very very long time. DO MORE!
  • Honestly this is the perfect combo. Cammisa brings in a little more humor and seems to extract more from your as well. He also adds a dose of emotion both around a car and brand which. That transforms an object into a story. It gives a more complete picture compared to an overly pragmatic mechanical approach which obviously everyone here also deeply enjoys. Diving into the mechanics satiates the inner nerd and helps inspire creativity in your viewers own life. A driving force for turning your army of 8 year olds into tomorrows Lucid 2.0. Best auto related video I’ve watched in a while.
  • I have followed both components of Jason² for years, and there is no question that this is my favorite video that either of you have ever made. As an engineer with the flawed engineer brain, I love the authentic, unscripted banter about the Air and its unbelievable successes as well as the discussion of Lucid's uncertain future as a new player in the automotive world. Appreciating breakthroughs in technology while simultaneously critiquing the perfectionist mindset in the real world (all with an hint of automotive history) is simply the perfect mix. You both communicate well and have excellent chemistry together. I really hope you guys continue to collaborate in this relaxed fashion. This is some of the most enjoyable, funny, and informative content out there, and it's done without crazy edits or gags - just two gearheads (of... acceptable intellect) poking fun at themselves in a fast car!
  • @VKEvilution
Two mechanical engineers nailing the chemistry.
  • @AliNajafies
A great conversation between two great men. I’m really astonished at the moment by the fact that how the Internet can eliminate or has eliminated all the (physical, geographical, political, … any type of) barriers to information flow between humans so that I can sit down on my chair at home in the other corner of the world enjoying this fantastically brilliant dialogue about engineering stuff. Thank you both!
  • @shadir007
Camisa’s ICONS video is amazing. It’s one of my favorite videos he has done. Highly recommend it.
  • @shidous
The crossover we needed but did not deserve. Looking forward to watching it all, end to end!🎉
  • @savagegeese
This video consolidated all the great things about this car including the problem with price. Now lets hope the company makes it and the talent makes it into other cars.
  • @dub88acc
The collab we didn't know we needed
  • This was one of the best videos I’ve seen recently. Great rapport, genuinely funny and entertaining but also informative and inciteful, this format definitely works !
  • @channeljared
As a huge fan of Cammisa, I really loved this - it showcased the best of EE in a more relaxed environment, while bringing in some of the humour and levity that Cammisa has. This video easily slots into my top 10 favorite Youtube videos ever, great work guys, hope to see you both continue to succeed and flourish and do more together with amazing brands and cars like this.
  • @dannonyogurt98
Jason's Hagerty content is gold. I also love the not so subtle ripping they do on each other.
  • @TheNuclearBolton
This is quite possibly my new favorite duo on YouTube. Glad this happened.
