Pat Summit. A true legend that did so much for women's basketball. Rest in peace, coach. Deepest respect from a lifelong fan and current student at UConn.
  • I’m from Tennessee. We loved watching these games. Both teams had legends play for them. It really meant something. Women’s basketball was lit! You got the Holdsclaw, Parker, Catchings, Lawson, McCray, Randall & others on one side. Then you got Stewart, Lobo, Taurasi, Bird, Moore, Cash, Sales on another. Different styles, different fights. I hated UConn & Auriemma, but we needed them to bring the sport up. I’m always team Summitt, but it’s good to have them both at the same time & I just wished they had played more games. I hope we can recapture that magic we had. Fun times.

Geno may eventually win more titles.... but Pat will always be the best person to coach women's b-ball.
  • @geneticrex
When the money was on the line in the BIG games for all the marbles, UCONN mopped the floor with Tennessee.

Oddly how Kara Lawson plays in Connecticut for the Sun. Maya never signed with UT,and the violation was a class 2, not a recruiting violation. Some allumni arranged for her and her mom to tour the ESPN studios in Bristol, Ct. It's was sad to see the games end. They didn't like each other for sure, but respected each other. Heavy weight games and so much fun to watch, win or lose. It all just played so well for national television and womens basketball. And From Connecticut,God Bless Pat be well
  • @tretharpe
The reason why I love Pat Summitt is because she does things the right way! She's full of class! If she cheated to get recruits can you imagine how many titles she would have! More than 8!
  • @NerdDrunk
@trev1701d exactly,I can think of three off hand that ever really did anything after UT, Tamika Catchings,KAra Lawson,Chamique Holdsclaw. But I could name about ten people from UConn that are relevant around the world.

@Irish20122012 yeah lest you forget we still have maya moore and oh yeah Geno Auriemma as our coach,oh and there was that little bit about the...oh what was it?...Oh yeah,81 win streak. So not to worry we'll have that eighth trophy soon enough
  • @NerdDrunk
@dapine22 Nope sorry,it's really hard to find any videos, especially regular season games.I only have the tournament games
  • @Irish20122012
@xcaliber45 im not too worry about pat and the rest of the team. im just glade we have a coach that follows the rule of the game
  • @NerdDrunk
I don't know I think Baylor might surprise everyone next season, and UConn still has some fight left in them,I don't know if it'll be enough to get them back to a national championship game, but they thought the same thing about Diana Taurasi and the 2004 team, and look what happened.I just don't see Tennessee playing that well right now
  • @NerdDrunk
Well,he did win 8 titles in like 10 less years than Pat and Geno has had more talent come through his program and he's still getting the best recruits in the country, what has Tennessee done since 2008? We've won 3 national championships. Maya Moore and Tina Charles have gone on to win gold medals,a WNBA Championship, and Bri Hartley,Brianna Stewart,KML,Kelly Faris,Tiffany Hayes have all competed in USA basketball level for gold medals
  • @CavGirl1
Show me where it says Maya Moore signed with UT
  • Hey Geno! Remember the name Meghan Sies from Toms River , N. J. shes a sophmore at Toms River North High School. She is already 6'1" and growing. A future star!!!!!!!!!!!!
  • She was a good coach, but her refusal to play Uconn should not be forgotten ! That badly hurt the sport because of the high intensity it had and rivalries always draw support...Pat hated to lose, she had highest recruits, should have upped her players game !!! She was selfish and only the w's mattered... Gino hates to lose too, but not afraid to do it...
  • Oh, somewhere in this favoured land the sun is shining bright, The band is playing somewhere, and somewhere hearts are light; And somewhere men are laughing, and somewhere children shout, But there is no joy in South Bend—the Mighty Muffet has struck out.
  • @NerdDrunk
Really? The Vols never beat UConn in the Championship game.
  • @NerdDrunk
@TheOldCarolinas First of all, thats a copout of an answer, second of all, they cant pay her anything other than offering her a free ride to school through an athletic scholarshipp, its against ncaa rules, and if memory serves UConn was never found guilty of anything, and if u think a school that wins as much as they do wouldn't be investigated you re sadly mistaken
  • respect too both teams both teams did not want too get neat by the other rest in peace pat.
