I grew up in a rent-controlled apartment. We have got to institute rent control nationwide and finally stop landlords from ripping off the American people.

Thank You, Sanders, for addressing this PRESSING issue. I live in a gentrifying neighborhood in Oakland, CA between two growing homeless encampments that are only a couple of the hundreds spreading throughout the San Francisco Bay Area.

I am a 22 year old community college student in California. I rent a tiny studio with my girlfriend for 850/month. I work 40-45 hours a week and go to school nearly full-time and I am still broke. I dont get financial aid, nor any financial help period. Rent control is a must for me and is not talked about nearly enough. Perhaps if I didn't have to pay over 800 for this measly studio, I could take more units and not have to work this much. Idk. Bernie or bust

I was shocked when I moved from Toronto, Ontario to Washington state 12 years ago and found out the landlords could raise the rent to whatever they wanted to. One place I rented when from $1700 to $2400 in a single year. I can't imagine how working people can afford huge rent increases. In Ontario, landlords are only allowed to raise the rent by 10% a year and at the end of the lease.
