  • “Good is the enemy of great, and if you settle for good then you’ll never be great” it really made me think a lot
  • The best tasting fish are the ones that you cook right away after catching them. I was taught that by my father who I unfortunately lost in February of 2018. I will never forget all of the times that we fished together. Keep up your great work that you do on your videos. Keep on fishing.

Your the only person besides myself that I ever seen to willing pick up other people's trash. People seem to think that someone else will do it and just look at me like I'm weird. I've only been thanked once over many years. So let me say thanks and hats off to you buddy. 👏👍
  • @av8scuba
Thanks for a great video! It brought back so many memories. I'm 57 and disabled so I can't do this type of fishing any longer. But I can fish through your videos. I especially enjoyed the tailgate cook. I've done that many times in the past.

Bud, I have to say you have become my favorite YouTube Fisherman you have a boat and a yack but you still do videos from the bank. so for me you're more relatable.
  • @donmcdonald3850
It's very enjoyable watching you fish and camp out. Even better knowing you leave a place better than you found it
  • @lew-e
Progress not perfection An older guy at the gym told me that a few weeks ago and I really appreciated it. Its hard to be perfect, some might say impossible, but its not terribly hard to make progress. Don't let the chase of perfection stop you from simply making progress

Not bad ! Fun actually ! Thanks for inviting us along ! ! ! 🙂😎👍

When I was growing up in a town on the IL river, one of our retired neighbors would go out and catch these every day; weekly fish fries for everyone.
  • @joeschmoe1301
What got me hooked on Spencer was his catch cook and eat approach. Always loved when he says "he's hungry". You know fish are gonna get caught!!
  • One of the first river trips I took my step son on , at 6 yrs old , I got to coach him while he reeled in a 6 1/2 lbs. Drum ,,,, one of the greatest fishing experiences of my life ! And for what it's worth , thank you for letting us know we aren't the only ones cleaning up other people's unnecessary garbage !
  • @tlgoodwi1
Great video Spencer. Thanks for taking us along! I have eaten a lot of drum. My grandfather called them river perch and so I did not know what they truly were for many years. That 2nd one was a tank!
  • If everyone made their fishing area a bit better every time there would be no trash. Great vid
  • @garybauer124
I recently moved to LaCross, WI and have been fishing the Mississippi River. I have had several old timers tell me that drum are really good eating. I’m glad you posted this, I think I’m going to try it.
  • @Leatherface-
Same as someone here just said.. my new favorite catfish (bait soaking) channel. The ideas I get here I pass on to my son for when we go hit the water. Enjoy the channel so much, thanks for videos! On a side note when you cook it always looks so good it makes me hungry.
  • @Holdmybeer21
Bro I just found your channel a few days ago and I’m hooked. Your love for the river is just like mine. When people go to the lake I head to the river , when I got a day off I go to the river , if I can’t sleep I go to the river lol but being on the river and chasing flatheads or anything else is the best feeling ever. Keep up the good work brother your good at what you do👊
  • @Brunnen_Gee
That's an absolutely beautiful spot to fish. I've wanted to get into drum fishing lately. I recently came across a couple articles talking about how underappreciated they were as a sport fish. They get big, they get aggressive, they fight hard, they're good eating. They're really not so much different than the prized red drum that everyone loves catching.
  • @cjwarren7632
Drum are my second favorite fish next to a blue cat. But if you take an extra pole holder you can tie that stringer off to it to help prevent those from pulling it out of the ground
  • @EntirelyJosh
Great Video Spencer! I was wondering if you planned on maybe making an updated video on what kind of setup/rig you use for catching flatheads and possibly talk about the types of knots that you use as well? Another great video!
  • @OutdoorLivin818
Loved the "it's gonna be lit" tagline and the long, hard stare into the camera 🤣
