Watching this after so many years, it's like I can feel my old reflexes for this boss being shaken awake again.

I best this guy even I was 6-7 years old. It was insanely difficult and took me what seemed to be countless of times..
  • Can we take the time to appreciate the fact that the boss music starts when the mantises finished that growl after all that "silence" (0:08) and not immediately like the other bosses? It gives major goosebumps. What a terrific game.

This boss was brutal when I was a kid. Picked up the game for the first time in years, beat them with only one death. I couldn't believe it, I was like, "That's it? That's what pissed me off for weeks on end as a kid?"

very hard boss so mutch difficulty THIS GAME BRING ME TO OLD SCHOOL WAS SO GOOD
  • The only real problem I ever had with the Jet Force bosses (other than thinking them to be hard as a kid) is that even after destroying some of their means of killing you, it's basically you repeating the same cycle to dodge the attack and shoot them. The only difference is that you slowly are depleting them of their means to destroy you.

So, here we have two giant praying mantises, enhanced with cybernetic weaponry, and a dog with rocket feet, that is firing missiles at them, who just came out of a giant worm's asshole, on a lava world, and who, despite being a dog, can pilot his own starship and competently fire missiles and machine guns at these giant praying mantises, and win. Now tell me... What's wrong with this image?

with this boss when taking out the heads, you may just want to use the pistol. Its very useful for this boss because its accurate.

The boss fights in this game are just as much puzzles to solve as they are frenetic shootouts. Every boss (Except Mizar Round 2) follows a consistent attack pattern and if you match your movements to that pattern you can be perfectly safe taking no damage. I once ran out of ammo for everything against this boss and spent 20 minutes wearing them down with yellow pistol shots, all without taking a scratch because I'd memorized their pattern.

This fight is much easier if player two was using Floyd.

This boss was too difficult when I was 13 years old, I am currently 30 and just today I played it on an emulator after all these years and I defeated it on my second attempt, but at the time it took me almost 1 month to beat it, since I had to do everything level.
