I played chess against a guy called Johnny whilst visiting Washington Square Park in NYC last summer! (This park is known for having a ton of chess players and chess hustlers). This was one of my most memorable chess games from NYC so I wanted to share it with you even if it was a while ago, hope you enjoy! :D

This dude is a serious side quest character that drops epic loot, in which is vital to your main quest.

I appreciate the fairly aggressive advances you're making in the game, contrasting to your kindness and politeness to the man. It's beautiful.

I'm from germany and at the moment I am doing vacation in NYC with my familly. Yesterday I meet him and played against hin for the first time and man! It was a pleasure🔥 playing chess with him is an experience. You can not lose!

I get this guy. When you get older there are fewer and fewer to opportunities to talk to younger people who are strangers with something in common. Keep being this you, Anna.😊

I am pretty sure part of his sadness at the end was not that he lost but that the game was over and this magical moment of conversation would come to an end.
  • I played Johnny today randomly and found this video after. What a great guy. Thanks for the fun game Jonny !

I was so hooked by this video the entire time. It’s beautiful how you gave this guy the time of day to listen and engage with him, you can see how much of a difference that made. I’m from New York, and I just ADORE the vibe and openness people have there generally, as well as the international vibe. The spontaneity of people’s interactions there is what makes it such a beautiful place, and this was one of those core New York experiences, talking to a wacky and sweet human and getting some wildly cool perspectives.

I love the way you treated him. Many people would think he was weird and walked away, but you listened and treated him with respect.

This guy’s gotta be the most talkative (in a good way) chess player I’ve ever known 😂❤

It's incredible how good listener Anna is... Non stop attention and interest and it's so genuine... We need more people like her.
  • This is one of my favorite most wholesome videos I’ve ever come across. The potential of an in person conversation that no social media conversation could ever touch. Look at the beauty that comes from being polite and making someone feel comfortable to open up to you.
  • @efusco
Anna, you were so patient and kind with him. Good on you. I’m sure you made his day.
  • @Ltulrich
She was so nice and patient with him while completely destroying him in the game. What a sweetheart.
  • Her incredible patience and kindness says volumes about her! So cool to watch. Man I was getting tired of hearing him talk, and I think he was talking somewhat to protect his ego incase he losses. Kept saying too that his talents are not on the chess board but in understanding people. But he can play quite fast and while barely looking. And when he thought she was distracted in conversation at 10:00, I think he tried to cheat. I'm doubtful that was an accident with the way he stopped talking, and looked away all nonchalantly. Felt a lot like a guilty tale. Glad she caught him! Watching ego death is really fun. 😆

You’re such a genuine and compassionate person. And it’s all real nothing fake. Keep smiling Anna. You make others smile 😊

I’ve seen this chess player for years. Very sweet guy, he’s a funny guy but also loves to teach new players as well. Played with him a few times, I enjoy playing with him and I always say hi to him in the park
  • @footonabrick
Nice guy. He did well to last so long considering he barely looked at the pieces!
  • @ts5368
I recently stumbled across your content, and I LOVE it! Such beautiful raw human interactions with so many different people. Thank you for doing this 😊

You were very polite and gentle with this gentleman. You can tell you put him at ease, then you made him feel like a worthy opponent / human being Kudos Anna
