I love how behind all that witty banter and jokes, Cayde-6 is somewhat mentoring Crow to succeed him as Hunter Vanguard. (It's also a hint to Cayde's fate at the end of the story)

Poor Crow. He entered a time when the Hunters were at they're most independent. He didn't really have any true care free people to look to for guidance. Just super serious folk like Ikora, Zavala, and Osiris.
