The most wonderful thing is, she was discussing, as she did, her funeral arrangements. She asked “what if I die in Scotland?”. How were they going to get her back to London? What plane? She asked “what plane do they bring my soldiers (and they were HER soldiers) brought back on? They said that big RAF transport one . She said “if that is good enough for my boys it’s good enough for me”. One simply can not make up class like that. We will bugger on, like we always do but it isn’t the same. I give my loyalty to your son he is my king. 🇬🇧🏴

She made a solemn promise on her twenty-first birthday that she would serve her country and her people faithfully for as long as she could. Nobody has ever kept a promise so faithfully and so completely as she did. She is so very much missed.

Only the British could pull a tribute this massive without a single hitch. Well done!

During the challenging period for Japan after the Second World War, Queen Elizabeth developed a close relationship with the imperial family and provided support for Japan's international reintegration. Many Japanese people express gratitude to the Queen for her kindness. We sincerely offer our condolences.

The monarchy may continue, but she truly is the end of an era of human history. Some dark events, some light, good and bad, but we won't ever see her like again.

I am near-80 year old American, now a retired Naval officer. Perhaps the greatest and most fitting tribute I can offer is this: her mother and her father, who — especially during the darkest days early in World War II — displayed incredible courage, inspirational leadership, self-sacrifice and empathy — are, I am sure, incredibly proud of her performance throughout last several decades.

As a soldier of 37 years, retired 2 years ago.... she was a steady influence on my life and made me proud to serve my country. I pay tribute to all my brothers and sisters in arms who protect our values and traditions. Gone but never ever forgotten. Rest in peace.

I was 2 months old when she became Queen. She was my boss for 22 years when I served in the Royal Air Force. She has been with me my whole life, from babe to now a 71 years old pensioner. I am pleased she passed away in Scotland, my home and her Majesty's favourite place. I will miss her.

I was born an Elizabethan. I am proud to say I was one of her soldiers. RIP Your Majesty. You were Britain personified. A truly wonderful monarch.

Her Majesty was not my queen as I am a Dutch citizen....but to me, her gracious majesty was the world's queen. She was loved throughout the world. I watched her final fatewell and I must have cried all day. Queen Eluzabeth Ii was the queen most of the world grew up with. ❤

Speaking on behalf of all Americans, it was a very sad day for us, too. She was a most elegant lady.

I’m french and I want to say to the British people that Queen Elizabeth II deserved these funerals after 70 years of services and duty 🇫🇷 🇬🇧 🙏

70 years is just amazing when you think of how much the world has changed. She remained a constant figure. RIP Elizabeth the Great.

She was our closest friend and ally after the 9/11 attacks, and she did everything she could to send a message of friendship and comfort across the sea to a country that was confused, sad, and angry. She had our national anthem played at Buckingham Palace. She was compassionate, wise, and ever graceful. I will never forget.

As an American, I viewed her as our nation's grandma. She was righteous, smiling, wise and just wonderful. She is missed.
