This video goes over the inside of a door handle that you would use in your house. Specific details will vary for different door handles. Parts covered in this video: handle, rosette, latch, latch assembly, and locking mechanism. The locking mechanism was simplified a lot. If you were to take a real one part you would find a lot more intricate parts.

    I didn't think it'd be that complex, impressive. I like these :)

Dude! How much time does an animation like this take :0??
  • @Sarfaraz954
I think you are the first YouTuber who explains everything with great knowledge with finest animation.
  • @kumarsundaresan
what a stunning presentation. I am so impressed by your animation work.

Never have I seen such a useful video on such a simple subject
  • @SidK26
animations and explanations are precise and good..keep going for other such day-to-day simple working system which most of us don't know!

This was the video I didn’t know I needed. I’ve disassembled plenty of door handles, but now I know how and why everything happens! Keep it up! Amazing work! 10/10

The earliest I remember wondering this was when i was 4 years old. It is a question that has plagued me for years and years (and I really wanted to take them apart but I thought "people won't be able to get through doors"). This video has instilled in me a sense of childlike joy

You make things so understandable and your narration is really appreciated.

Seeing the montrosity of the things inside the handle made me already give up on trying to understand, but once you assured me of showing one piece at a time and clearly showed their function and purpose individually, while gradually showing how the "chain reaction" works, it all made sense. Perfect!

It's fascinating that this design hasn't changed much in a long time. This helped me fix my broken bathroom doorknob, the springs weren't retaining as they should be, and shaft was warped, not bad for a 12 year old knob but it had to go.

I swear...I just locked myself in my room after only installing the "latch" piece in the middle with no knobs and of course after closing the door to see if the "bevel" was facing the right way. This showed me how a door lock mechanism works so I learned how it must be manipulated with no knobs.. new vocab words in "" Thanks Jared guy.

The animation in this video is amazing. I really needed to see how a door handle worked for a project I am working on and this was by far the best thing for comprehension. I am subscribing and hope to see more Mr. Owen. Good job and thank you!

Superb animation, well-done! I especially love that you named all the parts, as that it makes it easy for me to describe a problem to a support desk. Instead of, "Well the problem is in the cylindrical thingie that moves when the doodad is turned," I can correctly say, "the problem seems to be in the latch assembly because the cam drive units aren't moving smoothly, but the handles with the rosettes work fine." Thank you!

So much better than the last 5 videos I watched on locking mechanisms 5 stars helped me fix a busted door.
  • Hey man You are doing a great job by making these animations. Explanations and animations both are amazing. Keep doing what you do. You do inspire many mechanical engineers! Thank you The world needs creators like you

I'm very impressed with this video. For someone who knows nothing about door handles, I know have some knowledge. I appreciate the time put into the animation and the down-to-earth explanation. Well done.
  • This is probably the most informative video ive seen on youtube. Thanks for this.
