In an old interview with Hugo Martin he explained that the reason the Praetor suit has humanoid symbols (at least in the 2016 version) is because Doomguy is constantly adding to, and modifying it. We can see this with how he takes upgrades off the Elite Guard, and furthermore in Eternal where he gives the suit a complete redesign as seen in the fortress of Doom, stripping parts off the 2016 armor to accommodate his new one, so it’s like the suit has been altered heavily from its "original" form when it was given to him by the Wretch mentioned in the Slayer’s Testaments

Here lemme help: he was part of the sentinels, so it likely was created by some kind of armorer within that group
  • Just imagine they have like 21 other doom guy suits just laying around somewhere....
  • Personally because of its ability to interact with UAC tech, I think it's possible that it could be his original armor heavily modified by the demon dubbed "The Wretch".
  • So the suit doesn't have any biometric verification, no soul recognition system, no passphrase, or anything like that. The reason it works when Doomguy wears it is simply because it knows better.

They didn’t accidentally discover doom guy armour in hell, they deliberately went to get it, because it was Samuel Hayden’s insurance policy if things got out of hand.

His suit is one of those outfits where you think "That's not practical at all, its way too heavy and stiff. Nobody can wear that" But then Doom Slayer comes in and instantly proves everybody wrong and ROCKS the suit with Style.

The praetor suit was created by the Sentinels, according to the historical context of the game, during the events of Doom 1, Doom 2 and its expansions Evilution and Plutonia the Doom Guy was a human with only weapons and enough willpower to kill demons, at the end of these events the doom guy falls through a portal that takes him to the planet of the Sentinels. It was there where he was found and given the opportunity to fight to gain a place in their society (the Sentinels themselves explain that he spoke a language that sounded "dirty and uncivilized" (the doom guy probably already had a great post-traumatic stress and many traumas from his encounters with demons so he kept saying "rip and tear" implying that he could not think of anything else but to kill every last demon). For years he fight shoulder to shoulder with the Sentinels and earned a place among them, eventually Samuel Hayden who is actually a Mayker saw that unstoppable force and with one of his celestial machines imbued the doom guy with unstoppable strength and the ability to absorb the energy of his enemies to continue killing them, (at this point the doom guy transforms into doom slayer no longer an human) in addition to his armor which is a mix between Mayker and Sentinel technology adapted specially for him. Plus the UAC found several Sentinel technology and Samuel Hayden as head scientist make technology for human with enough compatibility (remember, the UAC want to use the infernal energy)

What’s worse is that his normal flesh is said to be even stronger than the suit Edit apparently anything can spawn a roast battle between comments nowadays

We also can't forget that this all started for survival and a dead bunny

I love the Doomslayer. The fact that he uses weapons to kill the demons purely to make things more entertaining for himself and he could easily slaughter every demon in seconds but he just doesn't is cool.

The suit is so strong it endured VEGA’s meltdown point blank
  • @gilliganIII
Doom is such a simple game, until you start paying attention

I personally believe this is his old marine armor from when he was still human, just heavily modified by said "wretch". That would explain the UAC integration, human/military look, and the number designation. He was probably Marine D22.

I dont think it was a foolish experiment because hayden (seraphim, the one Who created the Slayer )was looking for doomguy all Along because hé needed him to solve the conflict
