Why Are Grocery Prices So High

Published 2024-04-30
Why are grocery prices so high? Let's look at why grocery prices are so expensive and I will show you my thoughts...

They say food prices are rising due to several factors, including inflation, labor costs, supply chain disruptions, changes in consumer behavior, and the war in Ukraine. Let me know in the comments what your thoughts are.

Even if the pricing is at 40%, some of the stores around me are making things too expensive to buy. (Western Canada) grapes at 5.99 a pound. About a month ago a head of cauliflower was 7.99. I just refuse to buy the stuff when the price is so high, as do many people I know. (And yes I do garden so in the summer I manage to grow quite a bit.) What I would really enjoy knowing is how much produce does a single store throw away? If people can’t afford it, it wont be bought and will just go to waste. Seems so wrong. Just make a little less profit and at least stop the stuff from going to the landfill. That was long winded. Sorry grant. Much love!!✌️❤️

Hi Grant, I just wanted to say that your video was really informative and insightful. Thank you for bringing up such an important topic that needs to be discussed more often.
  • @AaricHale
Really great topic! One thing everyone can do is grow your own food or find a friend or family member if you don't have space. To be honest I haven't noticed a lot of shortages just higher prices. Thanks for sharing and have a great day!
  • Thats why I do buy much from the store I just go hunting! Thank you for sharing my friend!

Greed. It's amazing how much we could actually accomplish ourselves, by growing in our own spaces to offset these "gross" percentages. But, we have to get our head in the right space first. Thanks for sharing and making it known to those who don't know! Great video..

I am new to your channel. I just joined it today. I have a small piece of property. I have live right in town so I really am enjoying your video and how you grow your garden to such a beautiful size and a small space. Thanks for sharing and giving so much great information and tips. I watched from the beginning to the end.
  • That's a bunch of Bull man Sad to get reminded of this Thanks for the content Really great watching 🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘
  • Best urban farm 🤜🏻🤛🏻 got to get our garden going soon I seen some pumpkins already start 😂
  • Amazing green thumb Grant. Some great points. Very nice topic. Food will go up as well when they turn crop fields into solar. When states have crop damage, then the other area that might of helped carry that turns to solar. Good numbers Grant
  • @GrandmaSandy
Well, I couldn’t tell you the answer to most of them because I don’t know the answers. I just know everyone of our prices are going up and I have a small FOOD GARDEN and more and more of my friends are putting them in.
  • @WeGoFishing
Interesting. How much does shipping and importing change the cost? I also think that we are losing farmers and farmland. How much in your local store is even produced in state and how much is shipped in? This is an important topic!
  • @AnglesideFarm
It’s probably all of them Grant, now add to that all the land being put into solar and wind farms…..it’s only going to get worse My chicken, pork and sweet corn sells out very fast, people want fresh from the farm food not box store recall crap Good video Grant
  • This is one of the things I fight myself over a lot is how much do I charge for my plants when it comes time to sell? So in my line of business, because I propagate 95% of what I sell, I can make more money from my plants. So, depending on the pot size, I spend .16, .45 and $1.30 for the 3 sizes I use. Dirt if I buy bagged is .26, .65, and the biggest is $1.20. So that’s what I put into each pot. Now, if I plant the rooted out cuttings, that part is basically free because I propagated them from cuttings. And every plant is worth a different price. Now with that being said, me knowing the prices at the big box stores, I can under cut them and still make money. Now when I have to buy my inventory to grow out, that’s where I don’t make much on each individual plant. We can always chat on messenger or the phone if you want to go into a little more detail lol.
