  • Someone to hold you too close. Someone to hurt you too deep. Someone to sit in your chair, To ruin your sleep. Someone to need you too much. Someone to know you too well. Someone to pull you up short. To put you through hell. Someone you have to let in Someone whose feelings you spare Someone who like it or not Will want you to share, a little, a lot Someone to crowd you with love Someone to force you to care Someone to make you come through Who'll always be there, as frightened as you While being alive, being alive, being alive, being alive... Somebody hold me too close Somebody hurt me too deep Somebody sit in my chair And ruin my sleep And make me aware of being alive, being alive Somebody need me too much Somebody know me too well Somebody pull me up short And put me through hell And give me support for being alive Make me alive, make me alive, Make me confused; mock me with praise Let me be used, vary my days But alone is alone, not alive! Somebody crowd me with love Somebody force me to care Somebody make me come through I'll always be there, as frightened as you To help us survive, being alive, being alive, being alive!

Marriage Story brought me here, and I'm so grateful for it.

The whole point is that this is controlled passion. He is having a breakthrough but its like a slow burn.
  • This Broadway masterpiece was written in Boston as an emergency replacement for first finale happily ever after which was definitely Sondheim but not a finale that song can be heard on 1981 compliation album called Mary me a little some other songs taken from other shows are there too

I have alway loved Company! Great songs! Excellent singing! I was 15 when I first head it%!

This is my favourite interpretation. Brilliant. There are other good ones, but I think it’s just the best. And even a spoken interjection by Elaine Stritch lifts anything.

I can relate to this song so much it's kinda scary.

Larry Kert may have been technically a better singer, but his voice is dry and lifeless compared to Dean Jones. The absolute CRUCIFIXION that Jones brought to this of his own inner life makes everyone else pale in comparison. This is not a criticism, an opinion, this is from my absolute bottom of my gut.

I don't like this singer very much, but I have always loved this song : )
