MAKE SURE YOU WATCH 'TIL THE END! Eye to eye with a Blue Whale! Out with Capt. Dave on another amazing whale watch trip, this one left us speechless... 3 swim-unders: whales approached our boat, lunge-fed then swam underneath us, rolling on their backs and coming up right next to us afterward... mind-blowing; we were not following them, they kept coming to us! Shots taken within 5 to 30 feet of our boat. I was blessed to have a whale look me in the eye through my lens underwater...
If you were there/have had amazing encounters with whales, please comment!

Note: The Slo-Mo whale footage contains human voices slowed to 33% - funny, we sound like whales...

  • Hi viewers! Thanks for your concern for the whales. We too are whale protection advocates. They did indeed approach us, we were sitting still in the water. The captain was actually avoiding getting too close to them - the whales kept coming back toward us. That's what was so remarkable about the day, and why I posted the footage. The close encounter underwater was truly a gift! We were leaving the area and the captain was intentionally avoiding them. The whales were in charge. Enjoy!

If anyone here thinks that the screaming from the people are scaring the Whale in any videos, that is, pretty much, not possible. The Blue Whale's hearing is meant for sound that are much more below our hearing. To the Whale, it's like us listening for a mouse screaming during a hurricane. Anyways, Blue Whales are so amazing!! I just love everything about them so mysterious and beautiful. I love Whales. ❤️🐋
  • Itachi, the whale initiated this encounter.  We (the catamaran) were bobbing in the water with no engines running.  Thank you for your concern for the whales... indeed we need to appreciate them in a way that they remain safe.  Often, the whales come to us of their own volition.  That's what happened here... it's beyond wonderful!

It's very clear the whales were coming to the boat, their behavior is consistent with whales that are curious. What an awesome experience for you all...you're SO lucky to have had them this close to you!!!

Those Blue whales were lunge feeding that boat just happened to be near them and they got to see a true wonder of the world! Its my dream to see a blue whale like that ! Cameras cant actually measure their true size an average blue whale is 90 feet in length their side fins are 12 feet long and their tail is 25 feet from tip to tip?, they have the second largest eye in the world and the largest set of lungs ! They can hold their breath for an hour and they are very fast swimmers when they need to be! The are the most amazing mamal on earth!

Keep in mind that whales are mammals just like humans and the sounds they communicate with has a human sound too it! That was awsome hearing them communicate with each other or was it trying to communicate with the boat?
  • @EJStoner18
Unbelievable. Rare enough as it is, but to have them come that close. Thanks for posting the videos. I'm sure you realize just how lucky you are.
