BJP's rise is attributable to the failure of the Cong to stay relevant in aspirational India. Cong was guilty of doing a few things wrong and refusing to do many things right. Frustration of the nation rose to a point and regional issues were so compelling that national party and regional parties had to emerge. BJP succeeded in translating it into Nationalism and invented Hindutva to motivate and and mobilise the mass. Jan Sangh or BJP were never a mass based party. Extensive nationwide network of RSS came handy in broadbasing the BJP very quickly. BJP had able leadership in stalwarts like Atalji, Advaniji etc who inspired trust and respect. They had limited political success but succeeded nevertheless in laying a strong foundation for BJP to consolidate and expand in the future. This was followed by next generation of leaders like Modi, Sha, Jaitley. They were adept in capitalising the desire of the mass to risk an alternative govt. They persuaded and boosted the confidence of the people to undertake a leap of faith and support BJP to form govt and provide good governance. If Hindutva was the motivation then development was the goal. The leadership has been largely successful in establishing govts accross the country. Their performance, achievements in terms of good governance is though questionable. Perhaps certain aspects of the present leadership has reached point of saturation. The frustrations and dissatisfaction is growing amoung the population. This is particularly so amoung youth and Kisan. At present weakness of opposition alone is the BJP 's strength. BJP might win the 2024 election hands down. Yet it would expose it's weaknesses and lack of intrinsic strength mainly because they have exhausted the low hanging fruits. The nature of politics within BJP might change by way of cadre Vs elite, youth Vs older, caste Vs class, ideological compromise Vs purity. Geographical, demographical factors etc will start playing out. This is going to be a challenge to the vision and competence of BJP leadership. Stagnant water stinks. BJP's rise has been fast. Will the downfall be even faster? It is not important whether BJP remains successful in the future in terms of electoral performance. It is absolutely important that Hindutva is preserved. It must grow strong and prevail. Not necessarily as a weapon in offence but as a conservator of our heritage, pride and prestige. Our past one thousand years must not be caused again to hurt our civilization. Interesting days ahead. Good time to speculate. Jai Shri Ram 🙏 Satyamev Jayate 🪷 Jai Hind 🫡
