You must’ve watched my video on how to cook an SCA steak! Nobody else I know makes that agressive of the cut taking off that small tri-heart muscle. Couple things: 1) none of us cook like this for a steak dinner at home 2) the judges never take 2 bites! They only get ONE bite roughly the size of your thumbnail. 3) looks like you did great on the comp steak. If you’re ever interested, I’m notorious for training people to not only win, but to beat me! 😂 Great video!

The SCA Steak looks like a minecraft steak 💀

Backyard steak looks wayyy better. Dark grill marks means you burnt that area and then there is no crust in between. Crust is really important.

Why choose a ribeye if you're going to reduce it's size by half and get rid of all of that fat. Pick a filet if you're going to do that.

Actually you get two steaks to cook. The first steak is chosen by the lowest number choosing first and the next steak is chosen by the highest choosing first. This sort of "evens the playing field." Also, grill marks aren't really necessary in an SCA competition. Yes it adds points to presentation but it isn't mandatory. You mentioned the overwhelming amount of flavor and you wouldn't be able to finish the SCA Steak. Well SCA style cooking is not the same thing as backyard cooking just like KCBA barbecue competitions vs back yard barbecuing. The judges get one bite so it has to be loaded with flavor.

The fact that a steak judged as "perfect" is served in a styrofoam box is really disappointing!

As someone who generally hates it when food is fancified or overproduced, the excessive amount of effort involved in the SCA competition horrifies me. If you're going through that much trouble to make the "perfect steak", you have lost the point of food. Food should be good, yes. But it should also be personal. Of course your backyard steak is going to be better; you made it how you wanted to make it, not to some overblown specifications.
