Do you want to improve your pronunciation? I have launched my British English (Modern RP) pronunciation course! I’ll train you to read phonetic transcriptions, and produce each sound that comprises modern received pronunciation. I’ll also teach you how to implement the correct use of intonation, stress, rhythm, connected speech, and much more. We’ll compare similar sounds, and look at tricky topics like the glottal stop and the dark L.
Technically, I need to mark this as an AD even though it is my own company so - AD :)

  • When I was in the ninth grade, when my English teacher told me to read the paraphrase, and I mispronounced a word, and she correct in a very harsh way. She criticized me in front of my classmates and I was really embarrassed at that time. And I also remember that when she told us to make an essay, and I was typographically incorrect and used an incorrect grammar, and she starts to belittle me again in front of many students. That's why I searched an English Teaching channel here in YouTube and I saw this channel, and frankly speaking, I learned so much about English than my Teacher. Thank U Lucy! I really like your channel!
  • Finally a video that contains words that I actually pronounce incorrectly. Thank you Lucy, you’ve corrected me at least ten times today

    For me as a German it sometimes strikes me that the same sequence of letters can have so many different pronunciations in English. For example, many Germans get confused with the suffix "ate". They often pronounce "ultimate" like "ulti-mate" ("-ait") as in "late", "gate", "fate" and so on... Another example is the suffix "-ough", which can have so many different pronunciations that you have to memorise the pronunciation for every word that ends in it separately.

    I know more than 7 languages: Java, C++, Python...etc =)
  • It´s so good to know that some native speakers mispronounce the same words that I do as a non-native :p Yup, spelling is so confusing sometimes, and you try to predict the correct pronunciation according to other similar words but at the end you find out that you were wrong all the time. Thx Lucy!
  • I just discovered your channel and I really like your videos! I'm German and I learned English and French at school. For my vacations I always learn at least things like "Good morning, please, thank you, Good-bye" and the numbers in the language of the country I visit. So I speak a little Danish, Greek, Italian and Spanish. I improve my Danish and Italian with Duolingo every day because I just love Denmark and Italy.

    My mother tongue is Tamil but I had my education in the English medium. I am Indian but I had my primary and secondary education in Sri Lanka during the 1950s. My English teacher in the 4th and 5th standards and then in the 1st Form was an English lady, Miss Hutchins. I am 78 now. Listening to this video brought me nostalgic memories of my good old teacher. When I close my eyes, I heard her.
  • I couldn’t pronounce them wrong because I didn’t even know they existed 😨

    As a west coast Canadian there were only a couple that we pronounce differently. I have a friend that had only ever read the word awry, when he used it in a sentence he said awe-ree. Your idea of reading a book along with an audio book seems like a good one.
