Hey everyone, hope this video helps you out a ton if you’re planning to live in Ecuador, but regardless if you’re coming to live or just want to visit, you’ll definitely want to check out the 22 tips video I made using the information that was given to me by others who have visited and have lived in Ecuador as well as some of my own experiences myself: https://youtu.be/kpTiBX60PTM I also wanted to make a correction that was recently pointed out to me. In the section of totals at the end ( 17:59 ) I did say the calculations correctly but the rent shown on screen is wrong for Guayaquil and Quito. For Guayaquil the Rent cost shown is supposed to be $650 and for Quito the rent shown is supposed to be $500. Those values were the ones shown in 1:58 of the video which were the values that were determined to be the average that were added up in the totals section. I appreciate the understanding and I hope you keep enjoying the content! Ace out ❤️♠️⚔️
  • really nice to see an American-Ecuadorian make a proper video explaining all of the aspects/factors of living in Ecuador
  • Greetings from Guayaquil. I live in the center of the city, my electricity is about $40. We use fans instead of air conditioning. We do have an electric water heater that we turn on one hour in the morning. My water is $15, internet and "teléfono fijo" combo is $30. For mobile phone I use a tarjeta prepaga, costing me $10. And our house has belonged to my wife's family for 90 years. We don't pay rent, but there are costs to maintain the house.

I’ve been to Ecuador a few times in my life and loved it. I’m so tired of life in Miami I’ve decided to rent my house in Miami and live in Ecuador for a fraction of the cost. America has become an overpriced Shjt hole life is not fun here anymore everyone is so materialistic and they forget what really matters in life. Great videos clear and to the point. Good job
  • Found and subscribed to your channel today. Smart, articulate, thorough and very useful. Very much looking forward to more. In short, good stuff. Thanks for sharing.

I thought this would be just another cost-of-living video. But kudos to you this was actually very informative, and I love the way you set up and explain things. Very inside scoop type of explanations. Excellent video and one of the most analytical video I've seen to date!
  • @Robertsdogs

Great video, we appreciate you taking the time to do this video. We are planning a trip to Ecuador in November of this year. I have one more year before i can retire. Hopfully the price of a small home in Olon will not go up to high by the time we get there. Thanks again and keep up the good work!
  • Excellent video. Great info and great presentation. Really appreciate it, from up in Texas. Keep up the great work.

What I want to say is that your English pronunciation is so standard (similar to a newscaster) that I, as a native Chinese speaker, can understand your words without any difficulty, which is really amazing!
  • @onlycanbeoneofme
Thank you so much for this video! I am coming to Quito for some months and your video has really helped me have a better idea of everything - muchas gracias!
  • @mikkybee10

Your videos are very informative and I really like that you emphasize that the points you are making are from YOUR perspective, your real world experiences. You go into some great detail relating your experiences and that can help people make informed decisions. Bravo for doing such a great job of conveying that. MY perspective is that of a senior. I am over 65 (well over) and so when I research a city, I do so from that perspective. And in that regard, Cuenca checks off just about every box that I have to check off. Besides reasonable rents and a variety of choices, there is the benefit of being a senior in Cuenca (and Ecuador in general), that being the discounts available once one gets their cedula. Tranvia, buses and taxis are all half price. You can get the Tranvia passes and reload them as needed. Tranvia in general is a great plus for a senior in Cuenca, allowing us to get around the city affordably. Even if one were to use buses and Tranvia every day of the week, there would still be a substantial savings. AND, once one gets a cedula, there can be savings on flights originating in Ecuador, half price discount for air travel. If one wanted to go from, say Cuenca to Quito, a 45 minute flight would be much more affordable; 2 people could travel for the price of one. Or taking a long distance bus trip -- same thing. I know you and my friend Don Shader have done videos together, and they are definitely an asset. I'd like to suggest that you consider perhaps interviewing some other seniors, not just in Manta or Portoviejo, but perhaps Salinas or Guayaquil, Cuenca or Loja or Quito. Since there's a goodly number of us either in Ecuador or planning to move to Ecuador, it would be a great perspective for a young man to talk to an older man or woman about their experiences. Keep up the great work., Ace!

You're so detailed! I wish more finance channels were like yours 🙌
  • Sir, I appreciate your logical breakdown of expenses, and offering estimates of modest and pricier lifestyles in addition to the averages. Excellent work - thank you!
