We sat down with Becky "Axel" Goebel to chat about her experience as the a Born-Free 13 Invited Builder, and also the first woman to ever achieve that honor.

"I built this bike because I got invited to be a Born Free Builder for the 2022 event. If I were to complete the build, I would be the first female to ever build a bike for the show. I also saw it as an opportunity to build and finish my dream bike.

My main goal was to finish the bike. Because the 2021 Born Free event was pushed to August, the builders for 2022 didn't have an entire year. This build was my first Harley build that wasn't a Sportster so I had a lot of research and learning to do aside from the actual build. I also wanted to do as much of it myself as possible and make a few parts myself. I also wanted to learn a lot."

Beauty and talent. A truly lethal combination. Kudos to you for making it happen. Learning from others is the staple of being realistic and wanting it 100% right. Good on you.

I LOVE your '48 Pan, Axel!!!! It's almost a mirror image of the '48 Pan I owned from 1974 until 1996!! I've down a lot of stupid things in my life, but the stupidest thing I ever did was sell that old Pan. Great job, and congratulations on the build!!

Good looking bike, you’re lucky to have a chance to do what you did. Great work
  • A pan chopper is already too cool, but adding lots of personal self-made parts and making all the decisions takes it to another level that most of us will never pursue. Are you going to take it to Born Free Texas in the fall? We've been thinking of going down there for a quick turnaround trip (not on the bike) if time permits.
  • 1984 XJ650 and 1996 I think. Cagiva Roadster 125. Where can I send you stuff? Great builds, looking forward to the videos thanks a mil. Casey.

Nice bike, great kicker pedal, scared to ask how you were inspired for that idea.
