Here's my two cents on Plastic Memories, because this was really the only one I felt to disagree with. Honestly, I expected the ending, completely expected the ending. Like, clicked on episode one, figured out the ending before ads ended and the video started, but to me, the way it was executed was what made it for me. After the first episode, I had an idea of what was gonna come, and I kept watching to see how they would end it, since for me, how you do a sad ending can make a story. Personally, I don't think a predicatable ending kills a story. I predicted Your Lie in Aprils ending since episode two, and I still think it's fantastic. I predicted Angel Beats, and take a guess, I still like Angel Beats. To me, an ending is all based on it's execution. What made if for me was the buildup, and then the eventual parting. Let's start with the buildup. I call Isla and Tsukasa one of the healthiest relationships in anime. After they became a couple, they learned to support and love each other. It happened somewhat fast, but I wouldn't say it was forced, since we got to more or less see them develop. As the episodes kept going, and the dreaded date approached, I found myself dreading it more, part of what makes it painful is that you want these characters to win, but they won't. The final moment made it for me. The way it was handled, with them saying what they like, and then that little line from Isla was what sold it for me. Yeah, I'm not gonna be able to explain this well, but stick with me. When they got to the park, it built up to that one scene, that one last day before the end. When they got on, you could tell how the event was taking its toll on Tsukasa, and when Isla came up with the idea to say what they liked about each other, there was something nice about that scene. I think there was something genuine with what Tsukasa said about Isla, the imperfections rather than just the good, that he loves her for who she is, and the fact that she knows she will die, and admits to being afraid of it, but doesn't want him to cry, just made it hurt. Then, there was the death itself. Now, that kiss, was both the most satisfying moment, and the most painful moment of the series. A scene that made me both happy and sad. Granted, I didn't cry, really no anime has ever done that to me before, but I still think the ending was one of the most well executed deaths in anime. Yeah, the anime still has its flaws, and it nowhere near perfect, and even I will admit, the plot had a few holes in it, but overall, I think there was something to it, and it's ending. I see why it's famous, but I also get why you don't like it.

I actually watched Clannad, thinking "Ok, this is a fantasy Rom Com by one of my favorite anime studios. This could be good." I got a few episodes into After Story, and stopped because of all the problems with it. Was the romance sweet? Yes, very. Were there nice moments? Absolutely. But a lot of the fantasy elements just didn't click with the rest of the story. I was constantly wondering "What's this?" "Who's talking in this house?" "Who is this little girl?" "Why are there glowing orbs everywhere?" That story would've interested me, if it didn't clash with the romantic comedy story in front of me. And from what I've heard of the ending, I think those segments were only added in to explain the ending, and makes me think that it was just either poor writing, poor storytelling, or just lazy attempts to justify the ending. I don't get it. Is there something I'm missing? I mean, I'm on the Spectrum, so there must be something I must be missing.
  • Its sad when people get upset because someone doesnt like certain anime series. Like, do you know how pitiful you sound if you attack someone for it? lol Like "OMG YOU DONT LIKE SPONGEBOB?! YOURE A MORON!" lol Anyhow, Im glad Robyn made this video :) Its nice to watch her voice her opInion

Animes everyone likes but I don't: All sports anime Im not a fan of sports in real life so why would I like it in animation
  • @urahara64360
I was a digimon fan surrounded by Pokemon fans. I liked the character growth throughout the first 2 series because their growth in power is also tied to character growth and their attitudes can affect things in a whole different way. No moment in Pokemon ever hit me the same way as the moment when a character tried to force the next level and it resulted in a shocking transformation and the entire group being scattered by a rip in time and space. It blew my tiny child brain.

I actually find it understandable why you couldn't get behind NGE. You can only take so much angst until the characters become whiny rather than sympathetic, if you're gonna do that with your characters they have to grow and change, in other words character development. Otherwise, they're just broken records.

I apologize but i laughed when you said." I never really liked air." It sounded like u were saying you didn't like the air. Sorry if that was confusing

20:46 - I'll say this about the whole Digimon vs Pokémon thing.  Digimon has the better anime (most of the time).  Pokémon has the better games.  But at least you were honest about it being a misconception, and I do hope you eventually watch it one day.  At the very least, I recommend Digimon Tamers, just for how different it is from the other series'.
