Director Wes Ball breathes new life into the global, epic franchise set several generations in the future following Caesar’s reign, in which apes are the dominant species living harmoniously and humans have been reduced to living in the shadows. As a new tyrannical ape leader builds his empire, one young ape undertakes a harrowing journey that will cause him to question all that he has known about the past and to make choices that will define a future for apes and humans alike.

“Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes” is directed by Wes Ball (the “Maze Runner” trilogy) and stars Owen Teague (“IT”), Freya Allan (“The Witcher”), Kevin Durand (“Locke & Key”), Peter Macon (“Shameless”), and William H. Macy (“Fargo”). The screenplay is by Josh Friedman (“War of the Worlds”) and Rick Jaffa & Amanda Silver (“Avatar: The Way of Water”) and Patrick Aison (“Prey”), based on characters created by Rick Jaffa & Amanda Silver, and the producers are Wes Ball, Joe Hartwick, Jr., p.g.a. (“The Maze Runner”), Rick Jaffa, p.g.a., Amanda Silver, p.g.a., Jason Reed, p.g.a. (“Mulan”), with Peter Chernin (the “Planet of the Apes” trilogy) and Jenno Topping (“Ford v. Ferrari”) serving as executive producers.

Why is it this franchise is the most underrated sleeper hit of the decade. It’s just quietly carving out its own universe creating legendary stories each film

I'm not gonna lie, Proximus is already shaping up to be one of the best villains in a franchise where they're consistently good.

If you would have told me, pre 2011, that a Planet of the Apes reboot would be as epic as it has been, I’d have thought you were crazy. Yet here we are.

"Together we are strong" is such a cool callback to Caesar in the original.
  • "APE NOT KILL APE" "APE TOGETHER STRONG" I am very excited to see how Maurice, Rocket and all the elders pass the legend of Ceasar to the younger ape. I am also excited to see what role does Nove play and how strong os Cornelias? Long live King Ceaser!

Rise, dawn, and war are genuinely some of the most underappreciated masterpieces, this may not be Matt Reeves, but this is looking phenomenal

"Apes and humans lived side by side" is putting it very very generously

Proximus throne is the same shape as Caeser's window from his old home, i love that the apes still respected and remember him as a true king

No spin offs, No tv series, Just a classic movie series making movies taking 2-4 years. That's rare and good

I love how gradual this franchise is in terms of lore, world-building, and story.
  • I like the fime jump, it'll be great to see the legacy of Ceasar's civilization. The compete flip in the chain has always been the most interesting part of the movies.

just rewatched the trilogy to get the narrative down, and oh boy I'm so excited for this one! Love that this story is still connected in the future and all the references are there The legacy of Caesar still lives on.

Planet of the Apes is one of those movie ideas that sounds stupid/silly on paper but can be an unparalleled experience in practice
  • @dogshiin
I like that there's a clear villain. Very focused around the villain too.

You know what doesn't happen much anymore? Being so hyped for a movie 😅
  • Just watched it last night at a special screening for it and it is a really good and enjoyable film. Had my worries in director change but I felt it respected the legacy of the previous trilogy and continued the legacy very well
