Dear Emma, I am originally from Poland and have been in UK for the last 15 years... I didn't speak English at all when I came here for the first time and have found myself struggled a lot to get my confidence with speaking. I am still much better with texting rather than speaking or even understanding( specially over the phone😦). I guess I have learnt mostly through years of employment within different environments...but still try to get better.
