I worked for IBM in the 70's and if anyone can make quantum computers work, it's IBM! They are just amazing.
  • It's great to know the true OG IBM still in the game working on next gen innovations..

If it's a big Fridge then it's a Huge XBOX series X to me.
  • @LadyEtWatch
IBM was the Cats meow in 1975, when I was in data processing.

Ibm is back in the cutting edge tech business

I find it so interesting that these quantum computers look very similar to early computers, it's gonna be insane to see what they look like and how they perform in 20 years
  • bet in two or many decades later, this fridge will become as small as a micro SD card
  • IBM is so cool. Not only do they have Quantum computing systems already commercialized they open sourced Hardware for the openPOWER ISA(ppc64) technology microcomputers( personal computers) and mainframes( classic computers) that they built like their Z series mainframes. big blue is Big Blue for a reason.
  • I am a graduate student in data science familiar with quantum computing with several years of work experience in software and ai. The hype is relatively real. Just don’t expect it to affect gaming or your home computers. Researchers dedicate their entire careers to moving an algorithm over to quantum computing to perhaps prove it is ineffective in quantum computing. I’d stay tuned to see if algorithms such as kmeans and neural networks end up speeding up in the quantum computing realm. Lots of people are working hard to move those over, but have not done so yet. If it turns out to be possible with significant improvements, just wow. We will make such good AI so easily!! As consumers though, be more excited about analog computing, 3d storage/memory, analog memory, etc. Now that we’re reaching the physical capabilities of standard digital in cutting edge research, new forms of computing are being explored that can one day be scaled to even home computers! With sufficient development changes in software over time, you may one day see huge changes we never thought possible!
  • No one thought we’d have modern computers at our homes, now they’re in our hands. This could very well be something used commonly in 50 years!

I'd like to see it do hello world
  • @Themanwhoiknow
Yup let's build a quantum computer just to find more drugs 💀
  • @showtimemajd
This still wouldn’t be enough to run Star citizen 💀💀

Computers started out the size of a server room. Shrunk to the size of our palm. Now back to server room size. 2040 we'll have palm quantum processing.

The entangled state remains for too short a time. And it is influenced way too much be environmental noise - including thermal and 1/f noise...
  • @SithAssassin
    It’s just a giant paperweight. It doesn’t work 😂🤣
