If youโre looking at this video in 2022.. Take the comfortable high speed train Salerno(less than an hr) then take the Salerno to Amalfi ferry ride(30min). Much much faster and comfortable. Salerno train station to ferry 5-10min walk(flat/no hills).

Thanks a lot for summing it up for us first-timers to Italy! Really helpful <3

Wow! Extremely detailed and helpful!!! We are going to Italy end of October for a cruise, but getting there a day early to visit Amalfi. Thank you again๐

Excellent info. This will definitely assist in my plans when I visit the Amalfi Coast in May! Thank you.

Hi Dana, thank you so much for the tips.

Dana new subscriber, your videos rock, accurate, informative the way it should be. We are looking for your advice on where to stay in Sorrento and Positano, as we will be spending 10 days or so on the Amalfi coast next October, thank you!!!!

Excellent info, especially about safety concerns, and the practical matters such as dealing with luggage! In 2019, my wife and I flew into Naples, and took a private car from the airport to Amalfi town. The driver headed straight down to Vietri and then west on the coast to Amalfi. One day we did a day trip to Pompeii (and the archaeology museum in Naples), again with a driver, and that route tells another way to get to Amalfi, over the mountains and around Ravello. That seemed straightforward and skipped most of the coast. When we left, we took the SITA bus east to Salerno, walked a couple blocks to the train station, and then the high-speed train all the way to Rome. Easy peasy!

Headed to Amalfi in July and was debating a car or transit. This cleared it up for meโdefinitely taking a car. Thanks for the insight!
-
Thank you for your tips!! Do you have a company that you would recommend private cars?
-
Going to be there at the end of July! My friend want to stay in Amalfi and most things I want to do is in Positano but canโt find affordable transportation from Amalfi to Positano to make multiple trips

Omg I love you! This is sooo true I'm never taking the train again! I'm doing a driver! Great video thank you! โค

Hi Dana Yes I stayed in Naples and went to Pompeii, then hired a private car to take us to Salerno where we spent the night. Then we hired another private car from Salerno to do the Amalfi Coast stopping at Amalfi and Positano along the way until we reached to Sorrento before sunset which I stayed a few days and from there did a day trip to Capri Islands. In the long run, it is better to hire a private car to get to places like Positano. The only time I used the train in Italy was from Rome to Florence then to Pisa and Siena

Great info. Thank you

Sorry I had not gotten further in the video you do mention the ways to travel from Naples to Sorrento. I know this was 3 years ago has anything changed with the best method of transport?
-
Dana what is the best way to travel from Naples to Sorrento? Safe & economical and fast.
-
Thanks for this

How are the taxis for distances like Positano to Maiori?
-
What is the best website to book ferry ticket from Salerno to Positano? Thank you

You are right about the circumvesuviana not being safe. I was there in November 2018 and my phone got stolen from my handbag when I was busy putting all my luggage in the train. Not a safe train but extremely cheap compared to other options, specially private car.
