The XF90mm f/2 is an incredible and highly versatile, fast prime lens that offers excellent image quality and razor sharp imagery in a relatively compact design. It gives you that classic telephoto look without the size and weight of a big lens. Here's a look at some of the reasons I love this lens and photo examples to show you how you can use it in your photography.

A very nice review Dan. Your example photos are amazing as always.
  • Very thorough review! I just received the 90mm as a gift so I’m eager to test it out in landscapes and street photography. You sharing your experiences are extremely helpful and inspiring.
  • Absolutely wonderful pictures! This is an example of excellence . Congratulations.

The 90 was the second lens I bought three years ago when I started shooting Fuji. I agree with everything you spoke about, it's a great lens.

Helpful video Dan. I’m not too long into Fuji (X-T1) and have already purchased the 35 f2 and 16 f1.4 (both WR). I’ve kept my Canon 40D and own a long range Tamron 18 - 270 which is outstanding for general street photography (in good light!), so although I’m tempted to acquire a WR rated telephoto lens for the Fuji, I may get try and get by with the Canon / Tamron for now and look out for a 90 f2 for my X-T1

I've owned this lens for four years and I agree with everything you said, Dan. I think it's the sharpest lens I've ever used! I only need to use it more often.
  • You got my attention when you mentioned how light weight the lens is! I did not know about this lens. Love the view & sharpness. Thanks for the lesson. I will be getting one.
  • Absolutely 100% agree with everything in this video Dan. I did my first wedding shoot with the 90mm on my X-H1 at the weekend and it was an absolute joy to use. Tack sharp and never missed focus once (other than operator error!) To think I was previously lugging around my 6d mk ii and 70-200 f2.8 is just madness. I had it paired with the 35mm f2 on my X-T30 which was also fantastic. The one thing I took away is I think a 16mm or 23mm f1.4 would be the ideal accompaniment to the 90mm.
  • Great review! I'd love to see you do something to help those of us having a hard time choosing a telephoto (for landscape mostly) on the fuji system. I got a 50-230 for my first and it's fine for the price but I'd like to upgrade at some point!

Thank you very much. I have using 56mm 1.2 for years. Now i am going to buy a XT4 and thinking to try this 90mm but havent made my mind. Thanks for the information!👍🌹
  • Thanks Dan. I have this Lens in my bag. It’s a beautiful optics. I really appreciated your enthusiasm for it because it’s a perfect lens for many situations. I shoot events and portraits and this Lens is a beast in these situations. Thanks Mike aka Fuji Warrior. 👍🏽
  • Great video/tutorial as usual Dan. When I started watching the video I said to myself, no, I don't need this lens, for portraits I like the XF-50 f/2 and for every day carry I bring along the XF 16-80 and the XF 55-200, but after watching the video in its entirety you made me think about adding it to my collection, (you’re a great salesman, LOL) I don't do any professional work, so I can wait for a Fujifilm special. Stay safe.

Thanks for sharing how you use this lens. Do you ever use the 16mm lens? If so, in what situation? Also curious if you compared the 90mm to the 80mm macro.
  • Hi Dan have you had a chance to try the new XF70-300 yet? I’m considering this or the XF90. The versatility of the XF90 is great, (for portraits) just don’t know if the reach is enough compression for shooting landscapes with this. I have the 16/1.4 and 35/2 with X-T1. Thanks!
  • No dought it's my sharpest and most versatile lens. It also makes a great indoor sports lens. It always has a place in my bag.
  • @epicon6
I can't wait to get this. I had a Canon 100mm 2.8 II Macro and it was pretty good but not even close enough to what i would like. I use the Canon TS-E lenses the most and they are insanely sharp. I'm using the Xt-3 more and more now and the 90mm 2.0 is my best hope for great portraits
  • @looneyfarm1
I've had the 90 in my bag rarely pulled it out. But now after your review on it. I see 👀 it in a new perspective. I always reached for the 56mm or 16mm. I will purposely use the 90mm only for awhile. New perspectives rather than old habits
  • @pierregrave5971
Thanks again Dan for this detailed critic and advise. The 90mm f2 is missing in my photo bag but perhaps not for long...
  • Dan - Thanks for the video and possibly taking some money out of my pocket. I have many of the Fuji zooms but no primes. I do have the 50-140 and my cameras are the X-T2 & 3. Find myself not using the 50-140 much and mainly shoot landscapes and wildlife. The 90mm sounds interesting but need to see how it would fit into what I shoot. My other lenses are the 10-24, 18-55, and 55-200.

Dan. What’s your processing preference ? Lightroom? Capture One? Iridident X-Transformer?
