I grew up here in Fort Myers and lived there majority of my life before moving near the mountains of Oregon 7 years ago. I haven't been back yet since the hurricane. Thank you for the video, its gonna be hard for me coming back and no longer seeing so many places that I grew up around. My momma lives just 3 miles from Fort Myers beach, I'm so grateful that she made it through the storm alive. Thanks again Brian.
  • Blocking the right of way as he passes you perfectly fine with space and no trouble

We should open a resturant like that here at home and call it "Wheelies By The Lake", and have some stunt riders performing in the warm months to intertain the croud, and ofcourse bangin' music!

i use to live in sanibel with my parents luckily for them they sold the house 3 weeks before the hurricane and moved to Sarasota our house was on 15 foot stilts and the first floor still got submerged with water it was insane.

Fort Myers was a beautiful place 20+ years ago. A lot of things went wrong there and now it is a dump.
  • From Ft. Myers. A big problem with Ian was that power was lost in a lot of places, including mine. We went to bed thinking Ian was hitting more around North Port. Without power and the masses of people bogging down 5g, we honestly had no idea the storm was rolling over us directly. We just couldn't access radar. It wasn't until trees were getting ripped out of the ground that I looked at my kids and said the storm shifted and we are in it. For a lot of people that have never been in a hurricane, sure it sounds scary. I mean, it isn't a walk in the park. But really it is the days after that are the worst. Cutting your way through all the broken trees, no power, sleeping in the Florida heat, people fist fighting for gas. You see the brotherhood of man during disaster, and that is there is none. It is everyone for themselves. Luckily Publix opens nearly immediately and still accepts debit/credit cards and sometimes they have ice.

Hey brotha man, I was an essential worker doing security in the days following Ian, it was absolute chaos. The grocery store that supplied the locals on the main strip of FMB didn’t reopen for almost a year. It was a real hassle for anyone to even get basic necessities for a long while after the storm. Thanks for showcasing this area man! I’d love to be able to talk about it more with you because there’s so much that people don’t know about what happened on Sanibel/Captiva Island and the surrounding areas.

I've never been there. Thanks for the ride along.. 😅 I just love that you can get a rental, anywhere and throw it around like it was home 🧩

I was just in Clearwater, Florida the day before that Hurricane hit. Thank god we made it out🙏🏽🙏🏽rip to those who lost their lives and hope those residents and businesses recover fully💯
  • I rented that exact bike out of Fort Lauderdale in December 2023. I turned it to 40,000 miles on the 7 mile bridge. NWI 219

Man last time i watched hoodeats was like ages ago, just came back and I have to say the quality is amazing, relaxed riding, telling some history, talking with locals and popping some wheelies. Love it :D

I’ve lived in Florida my entire life. Born and raised 1/2 my life in Delray/Boca Raton, then the past 20 years I’ve been in Port St . Lucie, if there’s anything I have big respect for and don’t have any interest in provoking any natural disaster it’ll be the ocean. My best friend was living Sarasota and he left came back to PSL for the storm, even us here on the east coast had some serious wind and rain definitely not as bad but it was pretty strong

The building you went in and showed the picture of fun rentals is the shop I worked at in high school and is the reason I got into bikes nothing left now

This reminds me of what happened to my town of fort McMurray Alberta on 2016
