It's frustrating to see animals still being used in a way that terrifies and abuses them, and perpetuates the fear about them.
  • As a reptile keeper and educator, shows that put animals in high stress situations really peeves me more than anything. Yes, of course an animal will bite you when locked in a tiny cage with no way to escape from intrusions. Snakes' go to plan is always escape if possible. They get defensive if need be.

As a note about the clip with the snakes: I am extremely disappointed to see Chris from Bondi Vet there. He was always portrayed as someone who loves both animals and people. I would've imagined he'd have been against that event but apparently not.

We had a security guard get commendations for saving a life. She had just received CPR training a couple weeks earlier since she was being posted in a hospital. Sure enough, a child started showing signs of choking, and their mom was in a panic. The security guard was closest, performed the Heimlich Maneuver, and the child expelled whatever was caught in his throat before medical staff even got there. Turns out the mom was a nurse. She wasn't incompetent or anything. It's just that much different when it's a loved one who's in trouble.

Family feud was the last game show I’d thought to see on here but then I saw Johnny Knoxville and it started making sense

Hey! Oral surgery assistant here! If your wisdom teeth ARE bothering you, please DO NOT wait to have them looked at. As Dr. Mike stated they can cause cysts which can lead to infection, which can lead to major bone loss and trauma. In one case, a young lady permanently lost feeling to one side of her lower jaw and tongue due to the size of the cyst that had to be removed and the permanent nerve damage it caused. Please do not wait!! The consequences are no bueno.

“Australians” had me howling with laughter 🤣🤣🤣 ( honestly being a kiwi I’m just so use to the lingo )

For the Australian comments. "Copped a serious flogging" = subjected to a lot of force/bad injury. (flogging from when people were flogged with whips and cat'o'nine tails. "pulling up stumps" = we had to finish (in this context early). Usually meaning something happened to cause us to finish/stop what we were doing. It comes from the sport of cricket, where when the game ends the players/umpires will pull the stumps out of the ground (stumps being the upright wooden poles that make up the wicket) "Pulling up stumps"

That Whose Line clip is a classic. The game was for her to guess who the comedians were impersonating (they were given quirky identities on a secret card), and Ryan's was "Carol Channing whose head keeps getting stuck to things." After this happened, she guessed Carol Channing, and he went, "Well, I used to be, but I can't remember anymore" 😂

I love that Dr Mike still uses “peewoop” to censor cussing 🤣 The snake game almost made me cry.
  • I was such an accident prone kid and fell down the stairs so often in the morning that after awhile my mom stopped checking on me and would just yell “good morning” from wherever she was in the house 😂

“Brain injuries are no joke…”. Thanks Dr. Mike, I’m a Boomer-aged former athlete, and really wish we’d known about TBI then. Please put that up there with chest compressions!

Not in your video, but Samuel Koch's injury during the famous German gameshow "Wetten, dass..." was one of, if not the worst incident in the show and it showed once again how quickly things can go all south. Fortunately he lives to tell the tale. That could've ended way worse.

I’m amazed at how much doctors have to know and understand. I mean the body is so complicated.
  • @elliesmailes8370
14:04 Hahahahah Australians 🤣 As an Aussie Physio I interpret grant’s injury caption as “My MCL was fully torn, therefore I had to prematurely retire from the game show”. Copped = sustained, serious flogging = beating/injury, pull up stumps = finishing a game of cricket and pulling the stumps out of the ground. Hope that helped
  • @NicolaiAAA
Fear Factor never struck me as truly dangerous because even though the things they are doing are technically dangerous, I always figured that show had to have a million safety precautions in place to ensure no one would get seriously injured - otherwise it would kill the show and obviously the showrunners don't want that.

Funny story with how much the scalp bleeds...my mom was in color guard in high school and twirled the rifles. One of her teammates got hit in the head with the butt of the rifle during practice one day and started bleeding a lot (even though it was a small cut). Several teammates took her over to the ER and told the staff she got hit with a rifle. The police showed up a few minutes later, saw the amount of bleeding, and started questioning her. Then the team realized how the ER staff had interpreted the situation and clarified it was a very fake rifle and at color guard practice haha.

I can even relate to not treating 'family members' as a vet. When one of my pets gets sick, all of the sudden, I no longer know ANYTHING helpfull to do!
  • @loopylucas
14:10 as a Australian citizen I can tell you that “copped a flogging” means you smacked it to hard or get court. So in this case John grant smacked his knee so hard that he hurt knee
