Lift Method Fishing - Unmissable Bites on the Waggler Float

Published 2020-11-11
Lift Method Fishing - Unmissable Bites on the Waggler Float. The Lift Method used to be the go to type of fishing for Tench back in the 1960s, but it is also a great method for targeting shy biting species like Crucian Carp or Bream. These species often pick up a bait and just sit still with it in their mouths which means that no bite is registered on the float.

Using the Lift method however, means that the float rises up out of the water and creates almost unmissable bites. Gone are the days of having to dot your float down so that only a dimple shows above the surface. Now you can see greatly exaggerated indications on the float tip from even the most shy biting fish.

Great video. I'll be giving this method a whirl when the warmer weather arrives. Looks great for a mixed bag and hopefully some nice "Tincas". Thanks.
  • Probably my favourite float is the Antennae. So many shotting pattern variations you can adapt your fishing it to, which includes the weather and including light.. Bit of a struggle on rivers...BUT!.. depending on how you know the river/stream... it can be a great float.. I would not bother though on fast or deep rivers..
  • such a great video. I've really been struggling with getting the depth right and this has made a lot of sense to me. Thanks so much!

Hi Den Brilliant!. You make it look so simple and always seem to find a well stocked lake with no other Anglers on!!
  • I'm looking forward to seeing how you make these floats. With a long dark winter ahead of me I'll need something to keep me busy.

Здравствуйте Ден, у вас классный канал, многому научился, даже не владея английским языком. Спасибо за науку. К сожалению у нас уже очень холодно. Жду первого льда.
  • Enjoyed that Den, I'm new to fishing and watch lots of videos to get tips but never seen this method before, defo going to try this, hurry up with making floats please, cant wait
  • Great to see these floats being used correctly. I go back 45+ years to when I started to use driftbeater floats from Drennan. Fishing an estate lake in Sussex for Bream. The water was about 10 foot deep and I'd be casting some 25 to 30 yards out. I'd have a 2+ swan shot float and my tell tail shot would be a No1 set about 8 inches above the bait with about 4 or 5 inches of line on the bottom of the lake. Bites were unmissable as the float would literally raise some 6 inches or so out of the water. There was no mulling over the "Hmm... Was that a bite or not?" When you got a bite. You knew you had a bite. And a cuppa tea and a bite are synonymous. You can't have one without the other and 8/10, the tea ends up on the ground or your lap 8-))... Looks like a nice venue? Are you open to telling where it is, perchance?

Great vid loved the surprise take! Always seems a good tactic to lay on the bottom. I love catching a Crucian as they are such a great fish but it seems rare to catch now in England.

Might get round to this style of float fishing , next summer Den. As i've just changed the reel rings to reel seat on a lovely Dam Match rod. Love making my own bits and pieces here and there. Might have a go at the floats.
