Dark Souls: The Story of Hidetaka Miyazaki

Hidetaka's story is one of triumph through trial and error. After quitting a job at a prestigious technology company to pursue his dream of becoming a games developer, he had to work hard to find a new place for himself. But a desire to tell a powerful story through video games motivated him to change his entire life.
His first game, Demon Souls, was an enormous challenge, as the project was believed by his peers to be doomed to failure. Hidetaka had the odds stacked against him - but, if we've learned anything from the Dark Souls games, it's that tough challenges are worth fighting through in return for a more satisfying victory.
Special thanks to everyone who requested this episode, here's hoping it inspires you to take another crack at whatever personal goal you've been struggling with. We have faith in you!
Also, apologies for the ad break in the middle of this video, it was done deliberately to punctuate the story. This ended up being a very long video, and while we considered splitting it into two parts, we figured we'd rather do it in one big chunk. As a result, though, we felt like we needed a moment's pause in the middle to help let things sink in, and the perfect way to give it that moment of quiet seemed to be an extra advert. Sorry if it breaks up the flow too much - let us know if it bothered you too much, we're figuring things out at we go, so we're happy to change things up if necessary.
Let us know what videos you'd like to see in the near future.

"Sometimes he'd read through an entire paragraph of text without having any idea of what was going on in the story" We did it, folks, we found the underlying principle behind Dark Souls lore.
-
Correction, Miyakai wasn't a bad reader in his native language, the issue he had was that he was reading books written in English.
-

Wow, that rare moment when you accidentally stumble upon some random content and it's actually good. Impatiently waiting for the next episode. You deserve success.

I would pick up this man's suits from the dry cleaners, no questions asked.

Myazaki revived gaming for me and each and every game with his name on it is and always will be pure solid gold. I can't hardly wait to see what he is working on with his team. Bloodborne, Demon's Souls and Dark Souls 1+3 are the finest video games I have ever played. He could make a farming simulator and I would pre order the crap out of this game at this point haha Thank you for the amazing story of an amazing and very interessting personality, all hail the gaming messiah Myazaki XD

He said "I really like berserk, I want to make an unofficial berserk Video game." And demon souls and dark souls were born!

This channel is criminally under appreciated. This is another wonderful episode! Thank you for making this!

I've gladly spent 10 minutes of my life on a story I already knew, just because of the narration. Exceptional job and I love your voice.

I’m so proud of him. He is my own personal hero. It may seem silly but I deeply share his love of storytelling and unfortunately, continuous failure. Dark Souls quite literally saved my life and reignited my love of games when it has almost completely evaporated. I owe him everything.

I guess I can say I am proud that I was one of the few who got Demon's Souls on day 1, my first impression was: this is what Zelda games could've been if the theme grew up with the players. Didn't know his inspiration was ICO, I need to play that someday.

why did i almost cry watching this

Elden Ring is finally out and became Miuazaki's magnum opus. It's one of the greatest games of all time since Ocarina of Time
