You know, this is one of my favorite scenes from the series, as well. I haven't watched it in over 7 years but I remember the statement about Fanny: "Now, he's read the book." As a military pilot I can tell you most assuredly that how a pilot flies can be traced directly to their personality. To an experienced eye, it's a "piece of cake" to see it... Cheers!

I remember seeing this series on PBS decades ago as a young child. Three scenes stuck with me from then- this one, when Flash dies, and the end when Hart and Moggie die. I was so happy to re-discover it in full on youtube a few years ago. What a classic. And that theme is enough to bring tears to the eye on its own.

You know, the violins/strings playing in the background in this clip is gorgeous, absolutely superb! I would LOVE to get the muscial score for this movie! And, I gotta say, the way the Brits talk is cool....very classy with their understated rye humor. Uncle: "You do talk a lot of tosh, don't you?, old man"....

Runs rings around Masters of the Air.

This is the scene I remember best from the entire series, from when I first watched it in the early '90s. I just recently (couple weeks ago) bought the series on DVD, and it is every bit as good as I remembered. Thanks for uploading!

Great scene, saw this when I was about 13 or 14, now 37!

I wish they'd do a series out of Goshawk Squadron and War Story as well! Robinson's stories are so remarkable and entertaining!

In case anyone is interested, Derek Robinson who wrote the story this show was based on has a new book out. Its called "A Splendid Little War." Its set during the Russian Revolution just after WWI and Britain sends a fighter squadron to Russia to help the "Whites." Quite entertaining. It's not out in the US but I found it for sale by someone on Amazon and you can check the author's website for more information. I think I have read almost all of his books..................

You're welcome. This was my favorite scene from the series as well. Strangely enough - I think this scene is only in the series - it was not in the book from which the series is based. Being a pilot, I thought the scene was spot on for someone who understands flying styles.

best serie about battle of England of all times

What a classic series. I'm sure I'm not the only one who feels that it seemed to end too soon. I feel it needed one or two more episodes to flesh out the Battle of Britain phase. Maybe they just didn't have the budget. By the way, if any of you reading this comment enjoys non-fiction books about the war in the air in WWII make sure you check out 'The Big Show' by Pierre Closterman. It KICKS ARSE!

Derek Robinson's book is well worth a read (as his his earlier Goshawk Squadron)
