Great guide. For some reason so many guides never say what you should be looking for in neutral and this did. I’m low diamond and don’t play much hammer so that was much appreciated as I was having trouble figuring out how close to play when my main weapons play so much differently.

As a semi decent hammer player (2400) that just picked up sentinel not to long ago hammer is generally best played slower and more grounded (this does not mean u can’t pressure or use aerials). It’s has some pretty bad matchups and those tend to be the ones u want to play slower and more grounded. Incorporating cross up sairs in neutral when they float around that in-between height, to catch ppl weapon throwing down, and ppl who come back to stage at that in-between height or dodge into the stage at that in-between height is a really good option that hammer players should learn how to use. Using slight to wall your opponent out is crucial a good bit of the time, dash jump dairs to catch opponents who constantly dash jump or dash towards u In neutral, jump dair to catch ppl trying to punish, and falling with nairs if your opponent is jumping are all things I would recommend a new hammer player to learn. AND JUST LIKE HE SAID IN THE VIDEO DONT FALL WITH A SAIR EVERYTIME U LAND, it’s a terrible habit that is easily exploitable. The answer a lot of the time is just to reset neutral or go back and watch your replays and see how u got in the that position in the first place (you’ll prolly find that ur jumping a lot for no reason). Hope some of this helped.

Magyar is criminally underrated. Like tripped said, his nsig will cover his upwards weakness like sentinel. If you dont like liw dex on hammer, just play dex stance because 8 defense is still really good.

5:30 even though the game doesn't give points out to style, its still a good way to demoralise your opponent or better yet, tilt them forcing them to loose focus.
  • @alilqq
btw for the dair, the hitbox starts right behind you so when doing dlight dair, you should rotate for the dair so you can hit them backwards

My day instantly brightened up with excitement when I saw the notification for TrippedUp's newest video!

I've been playing Magyar a lot this season so seeing this video is super helpful

i think yumiko is also a good option for hammer since she has bow which covers hammer's weakness of floatiness + the nsig and dsig cover air very well

seems like no one's mentioned it yet, the Russian Mafia was named after Dobrein (I'm sure u know him) cos he's Russian and he first found and utilised the move really good guide, there's some lil things here and there like reversing dair after d-light and n-light s-light being true on all legends, but I love how u talk about actual hammer gameplay instead of just moves and combos

Ive been maining magyar but only used the greatsword, finally leveling up my play and learning hammer
  • @AndJavi_
This is the best guide I’ve ever watched
  • While I discovered this guide late, one thing I want to say to player want to main the weapon is that your dair and recover hit slightly behinds where you standing, a lot of people have the miss conception that they hit directly above or below you it infact doesn’t, it follow a grab move archetype as long as a pixel hit you or near you it considered a grab unlike normal move that you neat to actually hit to register a hit

I have no idea why, but Gnash was the one who made me interested in learning hammer more than scythe, it just feels so good on him.
  • @IAMBATMAN3
Too much information go through my brain is frying 😂 W vid btw
  • @inftriangle
its not a good kill option, but dash jump dair and grounded dair isn't bad for killing if your opponent likes to stay grounded. also game might not necessarily reward style points, but styling with hammer is arguably the easiest way to get an opponent on tilt and therefore lose focus, so i like to tell people if you have a full stock to toy with, or if they are white try to style them, make em lose it and you come out on top. people expect style from a scythe or greatsword but when it comes from a heavy weapon like hammer or cannon it can make em a bit salty.

im a blasters main (diamond) but i have played a bunch of Cassidy cuz u know even tho she is mad slow shes cool, this video is super good, I'd say that mastering the art of grounded nair is a great tool for killing, caching ppl landings etc so yea
