Shaurya Doval is the founder of the RSS-affiliated ‘India Foundation’. He currently serves as a state executive committee member of the BJP in Uttarakhand. He is also the son of India’s National Security Advisor, Ajit Doval. Shaurya is an economics graduate from Hindu College of Delhi University and holds two MBA degrees from the University of Chicago and the London Business School. Before establishing a think tank and entering politics, Shaurya worked with GE Capital and Morgan Stanley as an investment banker.

In the latest ANI Podcast with Smita Prakash, Shaurya Doval shares insights into how think tanks operate in India and where they receive funding. He discusses the multiplicity of views among think tanks in India. He also sheds light on how the battles of narratives between the left and right wings have evolved in India.

He also addresses the widespread nepotism debate in the BJP and emphasizes the need for nationalism in a nation’s development. He also underscores the Hindutva influence in Uttarakhand state politics.

When I was young and in schools I attended few public functions of RSS in Shivaji park in Mumbai. One of them was presided by Shri. Guruji Golwalkar. At the background of the podium it was written that - विजय ही विजय है ( It's all triamph) and as a scholboy I just wondered what it means. Now at the ripe age of post 60 years what it means. It was meant to develop a confidence in nation that - We can do it. Now at this age I am glad that I ses glimpse of it... We will do it to become a Vishwaguru.
  • An excellent discussion. The country needs more such people for the good of the nation to inculcate self confifence and pride.

This has been the most impactful podcast I have heard in your series of podcasts. Shaurya and his thoughts, ideas and convictions have brought such a lot of pride and self esteem in my person, it is difficult for me to even begin to explain. I am from the same era as you and Shaurya, and I always had this niggling thought at the back of my mind regarding our national mindset, why is it that we - as a society - have no pride in our own work, why don't we celebrate our own achievements and value our own civilization? Why do we always need "White" validation to applaud ourselves and consider ourselves worthy. Thank you Smita Prakash, for having this Conversation.
  • I had seen Shree Ajit Doval in Surrey in 2014/ 2015 when he was with the PM and I had screamed his name to which he was courteous enough to acknowledge it by waving his hand.

A man with good ideals and vision. The best part of this podcast was Mr. Doval gave very apt examples to support his answers and opinions.

To be honest RSS sounds more sensible and forward looking than many other BJP people especially in the online space. For a large and diverse country like ours any attempt to impose an ideology will fail. The best way forward is through open exchange of ideas and fair play to all view points from hindu rashtra to communism and different shades of secularism in between. Personally am an atheist, so i think secularism is very important and should be preserved.

You can stop an invading army, but not an Idea whose time has come - VH The idea of a progressive, intellectual, prosperous and can do bharat, which is proud of its ancient origins and heritage has come. Excellent conversation.
