Microsoft: Removes modding viability. Minecraft players: Only play on the version that this update didn't apply to and mod every new update into that older version themselves so they never have to officially pay for mods.
  • Meanwhile, Terraria officially endorsed and supported it's modding client years ago, and they continue to do it.
  • @IsRickIV
Guess they got tired of Mods outperforming their “big updates”.

“Hey you know that thing that’s been carrying our game for a decade?” “Yea we don’t like that”
  • "It's for security reasons" has clearly become Mojang/Microshaft's go to excuse for implementing features intended to take more and more control over how people play the game and what they're allowed to say and do. It's positively Orwellian and I assure you with almost 90% certainty it has nothing to do with "security". The entire reason Minecraft became so beloved in the first place was due to the creative freedom to play how you want and do what you want, when you wanted to, with little to no restrictions beyond your own in-game progression and acquired resources. Mojang/Microshaft are now stifling that freedom, and lying to our faces about their reasons.

if mods really go away, especially world edit, then im genuinely never playing minecraft again. theres no way i can continue to build the massive things i make without tools like that.
  • @joshuarufe
they probably removed it because they want to capitalize on the market place while screwing there whole modding community

Don't call it Mojang anymore. It's just Microsoft, calling it Mojang is an insult to the original.
  • @Herebedragons11
Lets just acknowledge the elephant in the room mojang removed modding to everywhere except the marketplace to force players to buy things they are greedy
  • @Lux_the_Lost
... The fact that Microsoft and Mojang need to have it explained to them as to why this move was a HORRENDOUS idea is just sad. There's shooting your product in the foot - and then there's blowing its effing legs off.
  • @ali_gondal1
They clearly did this so people are forced to buy mods from the marketplace
  • Mojang doesn't understand that modding is literally Minecraft's life support. Take that away and the game will plummet; in fact, mods are one of the main reasons the game got so famous.
  • Don't worry, the way Java works makes it literally impossible to prevent modding on Java Edition. Microsoft may be able to slow down Java modding, but they can never truly take it away from us.
  • @Coroshard
If they added this crap to Java, Java players would tear Microsoft to shreds Edit: Thanks for 280 likes! This is the most popular comment I have ever made!

This is the exact opposite direction Mojang and Microwank need to go in if they want Minecraft to thrive... When Hytale comes out there is a huge community of people who will be leaving Minecraft for good because they'll be able to go to Hytale and go recreate any version of Minecraft in Hytale, make any changes they want to those worlds and every player can then play those worlds and make any changes they want. Mojang and Microwank should be allowing people the freedom to do the exact same thing in Minecraft if they want to compete with Hytale when it comes out.
  • Why do I get the feeling that Microsoft is doing this to force players to either buy mods off of their market or play on their servers?
  • @foznoth
I don't play Bedrock, but I've voted, hopefully to make a difference. Luckily on Java we can stay on old versions, and mod those. I'm currently running 1.19.2 as a good number of mods I like haven't updated yet.

Mojang deletes modding! Everyone: so you have chosen financial death?
