In this documentary, we delve into the root causes of this decline: the affordability crisis. From the housing crisis and declining economic productivity to the impacts of carbon pricing and rising food expenses, we unpack the many challenges confronting everyday Canadians.

You elected him 3 times... Are you guys serious? You elected a drama teacher, yet didn't expect drama! Oh Canada!

American here. Thank you for making me feel better. I mean, the housing crisis is horrible here, but Canada is a bloodbath.

I’m a ticketed plumber in Canada who makes over 100k a year and I can’t buy a home. Working hard doesn’t mean anything anymore…

i remember when Canada used to be the most respected place in north America

You said at 12:38 that 7% of Canadians are leaving to the US each year, but the source you quoted clearly says ".7", i.e. 0.7%. If it was 7%, the population would be falling off a cliff. It's 1/10th as many people as you say.
  • @pierrepharand
Just as a minor correction, 7% of Canadians don't leave: but 0.7% do.

As a young Canadian, it is beyond frustrating to live in Canada and I have no hope for living here in the future.

I remember when you could work full time at McDonald’s and be able to have a clean, modern at the time bachelors apartment and a reliable used car 😢😢

The cost of a permit in Canada costs as much as a brand new completed home in Florida, brand new... The bureaucracy has fallen in love with itself.

I just read an article from Bloomberg stating that some Ukrainian immigrants have actually left 🇨🇦 Canada to go back to 🇺🇦 Ukraine last year (2023) simply because it was cheaper to live in Ukraine, a country actively still at war, than in Canada.

I've lived in Canada, Metro Vancouver area, back in 2017...it was already a bloodbath, now I see it's even worse. I ran away and returned to Italy after 8 months, after I discovered I had to skip meals in order to survive, something I've never experienced here in my country as a former low income citizen. Never had a single regret.

Moved to SE Asia 5 years ago. $350 per month rent in a modern condo on the beach. Absolutely no comparison.

The huge problem is Canada is the lack of competition. You can open a shitty restaurant chain like cactus club in vancouver, or a shitty coffee chain like blenz and still be a multi million dollar corparation. Yet you pay insane prices to go to these places. For instance in major cities like Istanbul, London, new york etc yes, you pay crazy prices but you are also eating at the best of the best in the world. The level of mediocrity is insane in Canada that charge insane prices.

it is a nightmare. canadian here...left the country. No regrets

Several Canadian friends are now former Canadians. One more just told me yesterday that she is looking for a job anywhere else in the world!!! she said it took her husband 6 months to see a specialist doctor, and her son 18 hours to be seen in the ER.

Feels like it's the trend across the world now; too much population (demand) and low supply of housing, and lots of companies are buying up housing (homes, condos, etc.) just to take their employees' wages back in the form of rent. It's freaking insane.

NOT moving to Canada was the best decision in my life!
  • @Torbea
As a Kiwi that has lived in canada for the last 18 months. I have found that all of this is true. New Zealand is reasonably expensive but canada is crazy, fruit and vege is outrageous. Phone bills, rent, used cars, all are far more expensive than home. Lucky they have good snow and beautiful views haha. 18 months was enough though, back to NZ
