Lyrics
When routine bites hard
And ambitions are low
And resentment rides high
But emotions won't grow
And we're changing our ways, taking different roads

Then love, love will tear us apart again
Love, love will tear us apart again

Why is the bedroom so cold?
You've turned away on your side
Is my timing that flawed?
Our respect runs so dry
Yet there's still this appeal
That we've kept through our lives

But love, love will tear us apart again
Love, love will tear us apart again

You cry out in your sleep
All my failings exposed
And there's a taste in my mouth
As desperation takes hold
Just that something so good
Just can't function no more

Then love, love will tear us apart again
Love, love will tear us apart again
Then love, love will tear it apart again
Love, love will tear it apart again

I saw a bit of this on TV a few days ago and couldn't help laugh, as Ian had a jacket with HATE written on the back!

Portuguese fan here. For those who haven't remembered yet, tomorrow will mark Ian Curtis' 68th birthday. My very own Rememberance Day. The day right after that will be my 58th anniversary which is probably the reason I never forget about Ian's and always try to listen to, at least, some Joy Division's songs to honour his memory and his legacy: I don't always succeed on doing that. "But I remember When we were young" And when I was 14 and my life forever changed... And when I was 14 and heard "Atmosphere" for the very first of many times... When I was 14 and did not know that the voice that sang and the mind that wrote those unforgettable and unique, terryficaly beautiful and (at times) beautifully terrifying lyrics, were no more: they were gone forever, never to return, and it had been so for almost ten months... When I was 14 and after two or three months of hearing Joy Division's music for the first time, found out Ian Curtis' dead by suicide so I had to tell my friends about that and they were all almost as shocked as I was... And when I was 14 and made the decision not to buy any Joy Division's records because I wanted to keep that music as precious and impactful as possible and my feelings as new and pure as if it were the first time... You should try that some time. You will probably fail. Just like I did. And I also remember when I was 20 and finally bought all the records but decided on not listening to them more than one day every year... So they could remain, and at this I did not fail. And I also remember when I was 20 and after being conscripted by the army I decided to take with me a bilingual book whith most of Ian's lyrics... So I could feel closer to home... So I could feel untouched by the cruelty of some, the insanity of a few and the stupidity of many of those around me, those who never even dreamed they could escape to a much more tolerable, a much more intelligent and wiser place, a place of freedom where you're not alone in the middle of a crowd, a place with less... Isolation. So... let's see... I rambled more than enough now, and in all truth, what I intended to do was to say from the deepest of my being, an enormous THANK YOU to Hooky, Barney, Steve and (why not?) Gillian and, of course, all the lads and lasses who collaborated with JD/NO for the past 46/47 years! Thank you again and blessed be. P.S. Although they are infinite, Ian does not need my love, appreciation or any gratitude whatsoever: IAN KEVIN CURTIS is one of the TRUE IMORTALS (and has been so for quite a while now). P.P.S. The new video is great and also, for more than one reason, quite timely. Congrats

It's always weird seeing this music used in new ways, nice to see too though :)
  • Ian Curtis el mejor cantante de la historia, mejor letrista de la historia, mejor compositor de la historia y mejor poeta de la historia.

Their music and Ian Curtis' voice are timeless. It means as much today as it did when Joy Division debuted
  • Спи спокойно, Йен. Тебя помнят! Не представляю скольким ты помог.
