2022 VB WRX Tuning Gains vs VA STI and VA WRX

Published 2024-05-24
The 2022+ VB WRX has been out for a couple of years and it’s one of our favourite go anywhere do anything and have fun while doing it car. We are not alone and a lot of you guys are enjoying these cars. What makes an already good car even better is of course more power.

The FA24 does not disappoint. It makes other Subarus envious of its power delivery and capabilities and in this video we show you guys what it takes to make the VB a properly quick WRX.

Come along as we tune the VB on both pump and E50 fuel and compare it to the STI and VA WRX.

Thank you Sky for letting us make your car faster (www.instagram.com/shortie_skyyy/)

I'm picking up my 2024 VB WRX tomorrow.. 12 hours and 30 minutes from the time of this post, actually. I'm not counting the hours and minutes, but.. well, yeah. I am a bit excited to get behind the wheel of the VB. I currently have a 2015 VA WRX which has.. rod knock. Surprise, surprise! Long story, short.. VB coming tomorrow to replace the VA. 🤘🤘

This was great. I love this car and it always makes me happy

As soon as I saw videos of stock VBs pulling on Stage 1 OTS tuned VAs, I knew something wasn't right with the advertised numbers. Subaru is definitely underrating these FA24s (not that it's a bad thing) and I'm glad you guys explained that

i wanted to keep my car stock for a while but watching this makes me think twice 😂

The VB is a powerful engine, however it's limitation is the gearbox and drivetrain which the STI has.over the VB, a match made in heaven would be and STI drivetrain and gearbox in the VB chassis.

I will definitely be reaching out to Stratified for the Accessport on my 23. Especially after watching this video, I definitely have the itch to tune; and will certainly be going this same route (intake + tune) Thanks for VB love!

I'm coming for a tune as soon as there is a tuning software available for 2024 WRX

Great vid. I like that the volumes aren’t boosted when mastering the vid. East to listen to. —i wonder if any of those tunes burn up the cats. —E50 with no hardware upgrade is safe on the stock setup?
  • @carsnanime4719
Very informative video! What spoiler is that on the VB? Need it for my WRB 😜

A beautiful British Columbia VB in WRB 😊 😍

About to pick up a '24 premium in a few weeks. What are your thoughts on the reliability of a 93 tune with an axle back and possibly an intake? I will be putting a decent amount of daily miles on it (work road trips), without beating the crap of it. Longevity of the drivetrain mostly.

I checked the website and couldn’t find any tuning support for the VB. I have a “stage 2” COBB package install and running their OTS. Are you planning on making an OTS for that set up? Or doing E-tune support?
  • @Tmanw8898
Damn, so the dam reseting every time you turn the car off would explain why my stock vb always felt like it was more responsive after a pull, thought I was crazy, and maybe just my foot was a little heavier after the pull.
  • @anotherstar8125
Maybe I missed if you mentioned weather or not the full bolt-on STI was on ethanol too...
  • @Cichlid_Visuals
My wifes 23 GT with just intake and JB4 made a "stage 2" Sti cry last week. put two car lengths on it in a very short run lol. He was especially emotionally damaged when he found out it was a CVT lol.
  • I was wondering if you were going to do a video on the new Cobb CAN Flex Fuel for the VA WRX? I figured you would use it on your VA WRX with the STI 6 speed swap. Curious to see the curve graphs of the torque numbers since the limiting factor is the trans
  • How much power can the FA24 hold and still be reliable ? Could this be the affordable swap for the sti ?
  • @dewjustin
Since the DAM resets every time, any idea how long it takes to learn its way back to 1.0? Or if it’s safe to go WOT if the DAM isn’t back to 1.0 yet? I remember loading the stock tune back on my VA wrx a couple times and it used to do the same thing.
  • @stijanjija2225
I picked 130whp and 210wtq on just ets intake and an etune on e50. 22k miles like that, now i have an Outfront motor and bigger turbo because 400whp wasnt cutting it anymore.
