** This episode was recorded prior to the SAG-AFTRA strike**. Our guest this week is none other than Taylor Momsen (The Pretty Reckless, Gossip Girl). She and Penn reunite for the first time since filming the season finale of Gossip Girl in 2012. Taylor shares what it was like being the youngest actor on set, her impressions of working with Penn, and why it was important for her to give her all to pursuing a career in music. Taylor lets us in on her creative muses, how she's drawn inspiration from the darkest moments of her life, and how she's learned to pick herself up after facing heartbreaking losses. I knew Taylor from back in the day. We were both child actors and I saw her at auditions and a few acting classes. The teacher would often pair us for the mirror exercises. She was so sweet. I saw her a handful of times between 2002-2005. I wasn’t surprised she became a musician because she loved music. I remember when we chatted on AIM, she frequently gave me lists of songs she was listening to and was telling me to check them out. I didn’t see her much after 2006. In 2014, I went and saw her and her band perform at the House of Blues in Dallas. Before the show, I gave the stagehand a note and asked him to give it to Taylor. After the show I went back to the stage hand and he said “Taylor would like to see you”. So I went back stage and saw Taylor and she instantly recognized me. I was so overwhelmed with excitement, and she gave me a big hug. She was still as sweet as I remembered her from back in the day, only thing that was different was she seemed a bit more shy now. But she might have also been a little tired from having just performed or maybe she was overwhelmed by my enthusiasm. Regardless, it was great seeing her again. Nothing but nice things to say about her.

I love that Penn called his stepchild his “own”, when speaking about fatherhood.

35:10 “if i’d only been taller Jared would have loved me”😭😭🤣🤣🤣 omg TAYLOR IS A SUPERNATURAL FAN I LOV

What I loved about this one is Penn and Taylor not seeing each other for 10 years and picking back up like it was yesterday. We all know that feeling I think. Also cool to hear how Taylor perceived her time on GG as a young kid and growing up in almost a different kind of world as all the others who were in their 20’s and kind of understanding the industry a tad more. Seems lonely in a way. But Taylor turned out to be this incredible human regardless of the struggles she’s had to overcome. Love this episode.

This girl does not need any introduction. She definitely played one of the most ICONIC and the word iconic doesnt even do it any justice, but ICONIC characters in television. She can show up anywhere without any announcement and everyone would know who she is.

Really great episode. I hope Leighton can return so she can discuss her music career and time on Broadway!

Penn and Taylor played the Humphrey siblings, who have a (once) rockstar father. Now they are both in their own bands. I always think Penn and Taylor worked so much as siblings because they are really similar in their language and how they express themselves.

I didn’t want this episode to end. Taylor seems very down to earth and normal considering her upbringing. Loved hearing about Gossip Girl. Still my favorite show to this day!

I'm actually screaming! Dan and little J together again!!

It's so amazing to have a tv brother and sister reunite years after Gossip Girl ended

The fights between Blair and Jenny is what made GG great in the first 2 seasons. GG lost its mojo once Taylor left the show.

I enjoyed this interview so much, it made me emotional. Taylor is so wise and iconic. Knowing that the GG writers did what they did towards the end so she could fulfill her dreams makes me feel a little bit better but they still did her dirty. But if you’re a fashion girlie now and watched GG, everyone knows Little J was THAT girl! I loved everything about this reunion.

I think it’s absolute batshit crazy that a show would allow for a 12 year old kid actor to make out with a 20 year old costar. As an assault scene. What exactly were going through the show runners heads. That’s horrible.

I Love How He Doesn't Seem To Hold A Grudge Against Blake And How He Doesn't Try To Act Like Their Relationship Never Happened, He Just Let's The Past Be The Past

“Big brother is here” my heart melted!!! 🖤🫶🥲
  • @lindseydmae
Idk how to explain it well enough but I love the way Taylor talks; like the cadence and the way she phrases things make it obvious that she’s a musician and it’s so calming to listen to:)
  • I only watched a few episodes of gossip girl, but no one could escape the cast being in the tabloids constantly for filming on the streets. it's amazing how much taylor went through at an early age and how well adjusted she is now. truly a woman of substance. loved this conversation.
  • @SpookyJenilee
Loved Taylor’s story about Jared!! So cute!! I love how she’s a Supernatural fan

You can see the pain in her eyes when she's talking about losing her friend :( so sad. She seems like a really interesting, open person and it was lovely to see her reunited with Penn! Great episode!
