    Haha, so let me clarify: if we produce these antibodies in large quantities, we could have a serum that needs to be injected periodically. This serum targets and blocks IL-11, a molecule that increases and becomes problematic as we age, contributing to inflammation and fibrosis. Unlike genetic treatments, which are expensive and complex, this antibody treatment could be a more accessible option. While it won’t literally make a 60-year-old feel like they’re 20 again, it could significantly improve health by reducing age-related inflammation and damage. Additionally, this treatment could be a game-changer for those suffering from fibromyalgia and chronic pain, offering much-needed relief by addressing the underlying inflammatory processes. Nice

    Anyone know what the anti il-11 actually is? Where did it come from? Does it have a natural analog? Or are there other ways to inhibit il-11?

    I've been following life extension for a long time, and I think this one is important. Boehringer Ingelheim has an anti-IL-11 monoclonal antibody, currently known as BI 765423. There is a Phase 1 trial going on at the moment, which is just looking at pharmacokinetics in healthy males. It's still a long way from approval. That will require a Phase 2 and Phase 3 trials, which will take years. The paper described here is going to generate a lot of interest in this mab and any other possible IL-11 antagonists.

    Il-11 levels increase in response to age related accumulation of iron. It does this to stave off iron loving bacteria. If you block IL-11 you do help with regeneration, but you compromise immunity. It'll work in a lab but not in the real world. Better off lowering age related iron accumulation.

    Inhibition of iL-11 will be problematic because it can directly affect the somatic cells and blood cells. Also, this is a crucial cytokine and receptor needed for maintaining fertility.
