phase one: remove the OEM 1950 GM 6cyl gas engine & install a 1999 Cummins 24 Valve with auto transmission. The hard install completed summer of 2018. Still to come, big list of upgrades planned for summer or 2019.

Wow i am amazed with all the skills to do that swap. All those wires would make me go crazy. Very intelligent and skilled mechanics. Good job.

Wheel flares, crew cab, short bed with brace, switch to modern brakes, paint job, interior, perfect!

We did this kind of conversion back in 2010 with a 52' gmc 150 long bed , used everything from a 98' dodge ram 2500 with 24 valve Cummins with nv4500 , also including front brake parts and Dana 80 rear axle and complete wiring harness.

What an awesome project, just go ahead and install a wrecker bed and put it to work, I'll bet it would be a big hit with some towing company.

This 10 lug 1948 1954 have the same lug patern as a 1970 1980 and maybe beyond motor homes with tbe10 lug 19.5 wheels fit right on these ol trucks, what tire did you put on yours ??!! Nice thanks BigAl California
  • If you don't mind my asking what did it cost you to do this build? I ask because I have a '48 Ford F1 I am wanting to do a cummins conversion to and am just looking to get an idea what its going to cost me. I was tinkling about putting the cab on a newer model Dodge chases but don't know what is going to be more cost effective
  • Excelente amigo, eso exactamente quisiera hacer con mi 1986 Ram Charger....Saludos desde Sonora, México!...
