I am a black woman, born & raised in Detroit. There is NOTHING right wing or racist about this song. And every time i hear an interview with this man or he's just talking to the camera, he's always talking about inclusiveness with EVERYONE. If anyone hears racism in this song, they're the racist...clearly. My music playlist is full of rap & this one song. Imagine when my song switches from WAP Cardi B to this 😂 My friend was like, WTF is this when the song switched. I said just listen to it. He actually listened to it & now it's on his playlist 😊 We listened to all his songs online & are now fans. I've added more of his songs to my Playlist. Give this man his flowers NOW!! This song has no color, it speaks to everyone. I come from Portugal, and I can say that this song has also struck us here in Europe. We are living the same thing in Europe. Life is getting more and more expensive, and we work to pay politicians who are getting rich while leaving us to suffer. They refuse to pay us more to force us not to think, just to wake up, work, pay our bills, and thank them for the scraps on the table.

Too many people have gotten distracted & caught up in the labels which the parties have given us, keeping people divided, perpetuating hurt feelings & maintaining constant bickering. Sadly, that's what seems to be their ultimate goal. I myself, like Oliver Anthony, am from VA & as a Virginia Resident, we all are acutely aware of those "Rich men who reside North of Richmond", Washington DC, & when we live this close to that area, you catch the whispers & rumblings of their corruption. They rely on the belief that if we are always holding each other accountable & taking toll of another persons flaws, then we won't, & don't, address our own accountability , we stay in discord & in the end, we REALLY miss what 'those in power' are pushing, & selling off of the sweat of the average Americans brow. Because we are too busy tallying the tab of our fellow 'hardworking citizen'. People really HAVE to wake up, hold these politicians, no matter the party, accountable, stand united & hold ourselves accountable, for how much leverage we are freely giving them. Your observations & reaction to his amazingly guttural lyics are so honest, pure & ring true to what most of the American people honestly feel. I'm a 28 year old White Liberal guy on the West coast. I slept on this song for a few months until all the hype died down a bit. Then I listened to it and it's wonderful, it reminds me of Johnny Cash, back when country music had an actual message besides the big trucks and blind patriotism. Also his singing was beautiful and raw.
