Zelda's Awakening - Recovered Memory #17 - The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild

The fact that Link took his somewhat last look at Zelda making sure she’s still safe and alive eventhough he’s struggling... it’s just so powerful.

The fact that she stood in the way of the Guardian beam, without knowing she even had the power to stop it like that in the first place. Damn man. This is by far the best memory.

Damn this scene hits you everytime like a ton of bricks... Gotta love this cutscene though... It's the first real time they've shown that Link is not an invincible hero like he's always portrayed, and shows that he is just as human as everyone else.

It honestly makes me tear up when Zelda pushes Link out of the way and screams “No!” The voice acting for that was honestly amazing, I could really feel the pain in her voice.

Gotta appreciate how well they portray link as weak and dying while not having a drop of blood to keep it pg. That takes skill

1:23 “Link you’re gonna be just fine.” Link’s face is like, “ Girl I am not fine.”

The fact that Zelda threw herself infront of Link knowing that her powers weren’t awakened and didn’t think about if they would or not, her only concern what that she had to protect him after all that time he had spent protecting her. She would die before letting anything happen to Link. That is heartbreaking, but just so beautiful to me. Their bond didn’t start out close in the slightest, in fact she almost hated him. But to see their relationship blossom to where Zelda would rather die than see another person she cared about be killed nearly reduces me to tears. AND the fact that Link was so exhausted, weak and wounded yet did not fall until he knew Zelda was safe, he truly is a hero.

Zelda cries in Link's arms, and Link dies/passes out in Zelda's arms. Why does Nintendo have to play our feeling like that, genius bastards

It's amazing to learn Fi is still there after all those years. She was able to bring Zelda some hope even if only briefly.

zelda’s lullaby playing in the background gives me chills every goddamn time it makes this scene all the more powerful

His left arm is blood soaked, he has a wound on his right knee and you can hear his breathing is labored probably from exhaustion and pain yet he still staggers to his feet in an attempt to protect her but can’t even lift his sword. When she steps in front of him you see he falls back down on his knee resting on his sword again before he collapses once he sees she is safe.

i love how confident Link was, trying not to fail his job of protecting Zelda, and he died trying to and just imagine link like "please zelda, go kill that bokoblin that knocked me down..."

Ill admit, Zelda's voice actress can be a BIT wooden sometimes, but when she's good, shes REALLY good

Good thing neither of those guys tripped getting him to the Great Plateau!!

And from that day Link and Zelda has guardian ptsd. Even a nap for 100 years couldn’t stop the fear.

Can't believe so much time has passed since the game came out. In all this time, in every cutscene, Link was portrayed as something of an unstoppable force with courage fueling every strike of his sword. Confident. Focused. Precise. Always on guard to keep Zelda safe. In all that time we forget, and Zelda's voice resonated in my mind that day to what she told him when he took down 3 Lynels and multiple other enemies. As brave as you are, that does not make you immortal. That courage however held his crumbling body together. Through pain of the wounds inflicted on him. Through the despair and hopelesness Zelda felt that day. Himself and his sword were the only thing keeping her from harm. Had Link lost heart that day, I don't think Zelda would have ever awakened her power. While he had personality and shown bravery multiple throughout this franchise, I personally think Link's courage was never portrayed as strongly as in Breath of the Wild's scenes, especially against such overwhelming odds tied against him. And seeing Zelda break after she finally unlocked her power through what she thought was his life with that final look he gifted her, one of apology and relief that she would be fine... Truly a great scene and one of my favorites in this game.

I like this version of Zelda’s Lullaby that plays after her powers awaken. It fits very well with this scene. The music in this game is so underrated.

Link, a normal teenage boy that is actually willing to sacrifice his life only to save the Princess, wow I love that game
