I'd like to think that splat roller is also a secure skirmisher that can easily swap roles with anyone
  • @eligamerman
As someone that mostly plays skirmish/slayer weapons, I'm ALWAYS appreciative of a good anchor to hold the backline in matches. Thanks for this video, spot on explanation of each role 👍
  • Hydra main here! I agree that the hardest part of the anchor playstyle is juggling safety vs attacking the enemy. If I position myself more aggressively, we'd be better able to beat back the enemy, but if things go wrong, we might wipe...

The clip at 9:41 is such a great example of how to both skirmish and slay and a good demonstration of how fluid these roles are. It starts with the dualie squelchers distracting the enemy N-Zap, using their range and dodging for long enough to let the Vdualies roll in and finish them off. Then they switch rolls as they move on to their next target, the splattershot. Now the Vdualies is the one drawing fire to let the squelchers safely eliminate the enemy. The Vdualies died, but because they got two kills together it was still worth it. What the team needs of you can change in the blink of an eye. Even if you're a dualie squelchers who prefers to skrimish, you'll sometimes have to slay simply because the enemy started shooting at your teammate first instead of you. Great video, Cookie!

This video rocks! PKFuzzy said a lot about being fluid with roles in his interview with Chara and its great to hear other players/coaches sharing similar views. Its important to not hamstring yourself to a certain playstyle within a match or with your choice of weapon pool, especially within a team setting. The game state is always fluid and your role within each game will be as well.

I sometimes watch weapon role videos, just to remind myself of the basics. And I must say this is the best video I've seen so far. It's short, it has all the important key elements, you explain it in a way so everyone can understand (even beginners), and you have a clear pronunciation. Good job!

When I wake, I pray Coach Cookie has uploaded. When I sleep, it's because I've watched all Coach Cookie's videos. When Coach Cookie uploads, I thank the universe. For I was born too early to explore space, to late to explore earth, but just in time to explore Coach Cookie's youtube channel. Great vid as always mate.

This is the BEST video to explaining Weapon Roles. I really appreciate how you explained in detail on what to do if one of the roles went down. And I also love how you explained it as a team as well. Overall such an amazing video. You defiantly deserve all the likes and subs.

as someone who plays a lot of splatling (currently Hydra and Heavy Edit), i feel i fill the Anchor role quite nicely, and can be a support if needed because displacement and assisting the team are big things to have, especially as a solo queue
  • @DeeGeeSeventeen
vSploosh main here. This put quite a bit into perspective for me! I can confidently say that I’m best off as a Utility player. I thought that Slayer would be a good role to describe my playstyle, but with how fluid this game is, this video helped expand my mind and shape how I more consciously play. Big thanks, Chief!
  • this is such a good video version of FLC’s guide. alot of videos about roles (not all) completely ignore FLC’s guide and end up teaching bad habits to players. FLC would be proud of this version
  • @NightW3VL
Very nice explanation. I really love how Splatoon is super dynamic with play styles, that quality makes it so unique from other shooter games. I’d say my playstyle is a mainly a mix between a skirmisher and a slayer. I main the inkbrush and I’m often either distracting enemies or just straight up going for the kills.
  • Went from being a 5star inkbrush main to 5star heavy splatling main. I’ve got 4 stars in several other weapons, but nothing even remotely compares to playing heavy splatling. I only ever solo queue (does playing with my bf every now and then even count as a group?) and it can be pretty difficult sometimes. I’ve learned to play pretty aggressive as one too, but being the last line of defense for my team is pretty great. With that being said, not having a backliner makes such a huge impact. It’s an honor to be the anchor of my teams 🫡

7:09 This is why I call Z+E Charger a "Skirmisher enabler": meaning that if I get and hold position and there's a chance, I can quickly approach to give you my shield to use it while I'll still cover you on the long range.
  • @themasocre
i main like 15+ weapons so this was incredibly helpful LMAO i'm always switching playstyles and its good to see i was already doing most of these things without knowing the proper terms for them :)
  • @bloodcells4279
I didnt know anything about these roles until now and i realise ive been doing a good job as a utility player this whole time with Nzap 85, thx for ths boist in confidence 👍
  • Cookie, I've got beef. Your videos are the most helpful to me, yet you only have four. More videos, please. Your way of explaining things is really helpful.
  • @user-xc9ux3cc7r
one of the best explanations of team roles. I really liked the positive vibe of the video :) thank you for sharing this.
  • @zammich3649
playing bamboo in solo queue is a serious exercise in teammates demanding every role from you at every moment.
