I have easy to follow and thorough step by step tutorials "do it yourself" (DIY) videos to help you with your broken lawn and garden equipment including snowblowers and zero turn mowers.

I do my best to teach you how to easily diagnose problems the fastest, quickest and most efficient way with real repairs beyond just replacing a spark plug. These tips are for both the homeowner and shop owner.

Whether it be a handheld, two stroke, two cycle engine like a chainsaw, weed eater, weed whacker, string trimmer, grass trimmer, line trimmer, hedge trimmer, strimmer, brush cutter, leaf blower, or four stroke, four cycle units like a lawnmower, wood splitter, lawn tractor, zero turn mower, snowblower, pressure washer, generator or a ride on mower that needs parts installed or replaced, I’m your go-to guy.

My favorite brands of spark plugs are NGK and Champion and are the ones I recommend.

I’ve been a small engine mechanic for many decades and also run my own repair shop so my videos are loaded with tips and tricks that I have learned and want to share with you. You will also find many tool and product reviews from top brands on my channel as well.
I have the largest Small Engine Repair Video Library on Youtube and the entire internet with over 1200 videos, just GOOGLE "DONYBOY73"!

Donny provides consistent excellence on small engines. He is number one in my book and the go to person on small engine issues. I also really like Steve's small engine saloon, and individualized repair. What's amazing to me is how each of these guys, Almost always, diagnose and solve problems the exact same way. Another most excellent repair AND advice! 👍👍👍

Never knew that you closed the choke when running it out of fuel for storage. Great video, thanks.

Like the Briggs V-Twin engines. I have one on my personal machine. Only issue I’ve had is the valve guides have a tendency to move in the heads which can lead to the push rods coming off into the crank case. If you maintain them properly though they will run forever.
  • I’ve been using a fuel stabilizer in my John Deere X300 since 2010 when I put it away in the winter and have never had a problem starting it in the spring. When you use a shut off, there will still be some fuel left in the bowl that can go bad. Here in Canada all fuels have the same percentage of ethanol where over a year ago only premium was ethanol free. My machine runs fine on 87 so I use it, plus it’s cheaper. BUT I’m also using Ethanol Shield from Home Depot in my small engine machines fuel jug to combat the water that can form from using ethanol fuel.

Sing Smooth Operator by Sade but change the word Operator with Carburetor and your work efficiency will increase by 30% on Carb jobs.
  • Good job thanks for showing us. I know you do what the customer wants, but I would have told them to replace the intake O-rings, to guarantee the job, a leaking 1would cause it to run bad.

Off topic but I was watching the lawn boy carb clean video from 13 years ago. It looked like you were videoing with a camcorder. No hate it actually helped me out. I just picked up 8 lawn boys to get running.

Thank you Donny! Nice clear video as always. I'm just stunned how few people realize the importance of good "Carb Care"!! Meaning..... * ALWAYS use Top-Tier Certified Ethanol-FREE Premium whenever possible. * SHELL V-power Premium is a very good one! * My fave Fuel-stabilizer is Seafoam. I've bought a lot of it over the years. * I add it to our Cars' fuel AND Oil before an O/C. * I leave fuel IN the tank/Carbs during storage. I add extra SF to about a 1/3 full tank, run for 5mins, then shut it off for the winter months. * Have never had an issue with dried-out gaskets, etc. "Let it roll Donny....down the Highway"!! BTO baby! 🎤🎸🥁🎼🎙📻
  • Awesome fix Don ! Fuel shut off is a great idea I think as well

I always look forward to Donyboy Friday lesson

@ 4:22 an alternative to E-Torx socket would be a 4mm socket !!works amazing!!
  • I like watching your videos . . . .you explain everything so well.
  • Great video as always! I'm going to install a fuel shut off on my JD tractor as well. It does have a shut off but it's under the seat by the tank so the line stays full and it takes a while to run it dry. Thanks Don!

Great video Donny! Just did this on my LX277, new oem carb was like $280.00 MeriKan. Took the old carb off and tried cleaning it, but somebody was in it before me and stripped the threads that the main jet and emulsion tube screw into carb with; not the heads on the jets themselves and when I put it back together, apparently the main jet, although bottomed out, wasn't installed all the way and the carb wouldn't pick up any gas from the bowl. Couldn't rebuild the old carb because of the damage. Now the thing runs like new.

One thing I have started doing is to draw, somewhere near the gas valve an illustration of off and on. There is nothing worse than getting a call that the engine won't start and the issue is that the gas valve is still in the off position.
