I don’t think I explained my driving strategy for testing enough in this video so hope this clarifies: Strategy 1: Rip it to drain the battery low and try and find a 350kW charger to see big charging speeds Strategy 2: Normal driving into Grand Junction to simulate how a normal person would cruise with wide open roads Strategy 3: Gentler cruising over the Rockies getting the highest efficiency of the trip

We don’t have access to serious EA help. I have been stuck innumerable times trying to get a charge at Electrify America. It actually pushed me away from electric cars for long distance use and as of over 1 year ago I no longer take electric road trips. I’m glad you document the issues, because I have posted about this online and been called a FUD spreader by the Electrify America Stans. I invested almost $100k in a luxury car, had awful charging experiences, and been called a liar for documenting it. So freaking frustrating.

Even though some of these conditions or experiences can be stressful to most of us average people, your humor and demeanor always make for a fair review, a great experience and much less nail biting. Your reviews assist those interested in motoring technology to make an informed purchase or not, or to just learn about the newest technology in cars. Thx! Be safe.

Kyle: "Little charger, you have no idea what's in store for you." Little Charger: "Hold my handle!"
  • This came at the right time. New road trip videos are one of the best ways to calm myself down and this really helped me out.

Peter is the absolute man. Out of Spec roadtrips are some of my favorite content on all of Youtube. Love you guys
  • @benz500r
Dude, he let you drive his car because you're a nice guy and you take care of someone else's stuff. Great review.

Went to Electrify America today and had no cell phone service. Couldn't swipe to charge and couldn't call customer service. What a wonderful feeling. Lol

I couldn’t imagine buying such an expensive car and truly worrying about chargers not working. There are so many great cars out there crippled by terrible charging networks. Fun video as always.
  • @MALNTV
Kyle…this is why I’m not switching over. I do NOT have the same connections as you.
  • @ulfw
What's the point of fast charging if it takes an hour+ fumbling to even start charging? Awful. Just awful.

Road tripping in my Air GT I target arriving at under 10% and unplugging at about 50%. Driving at a more modest pace, that gives me an easy two hour driving stint between 10-15 minute stops. I don't bother with preconditioning and, of course, it's easy to charge a little more where chargers are sparse. When younger I would press on regardless, driving hours on end, but have found that stretching my legs every couple hours keeps my mind in the game on the highway and I arrive at my destination in functional condition. Since I would be stopping anyway, I find the Lucid has usually charged past my target by the time I find the bio-break facilities and buy a drink or whatever. Travelling in a Lucid today also means allowing a little time to talk to the gawkers.
  • 25:35 Honestly, I don't think there's much to optimize with trips in the Lucid. With easily 400 to 450 miles of minimum driving range, most people will just drive it like a gas car. A couple of 10 to 15 minute stops at a convenience store would be more than enough to drive 800+ miles in a day, which is more than most people would ever consider driving. The bigger factor is being able to find and identify faster chargers that are located conveniently for the trip.
  • Yesterday I typed Lucid into my search on YouTube. Watched 2 of your videos then went for a walk this morning…and I’m staying in Palm Springs! I see the driveway where your trip began (across the street is the home with all the plant canopies). Small world! Thank you for your video. The electrify America network needs some help. I was thinking you were about to be stranded out there. Glad you made it back to Colorado. I’ll be watching more of your videos!
  • 1:04 Kyle freaks out about charging! The happiness in his voice is priceless. It's like hearing a guy crossing the desert finding water.
  • @eazymoneyTX
Thanks again for a other GREAT video! 👍🏽👍🏽
  • The house music is perfect for this! Evey other YouTuber is clueless. Well done!

Beautiful car. Can’t wait to get mines.
