The Sinquefield Cup sees Magnus Carlsen and 11 more of the world's best players compete in the Saint Louis Chess Club from 17-28 August 2019. The event is the fifth leg of the 2019 Grand Chess Tour. In addition to tour points the prize fund is $325,000, with $90,000 for 1st place.

Players receive 130 minutes for the entire game, with a 30-second delay from move 1. A tie for first place will be decided in a 2-game rapid mini-match (10 min + 5 sec delay), in case of just two tied players, and if necessary an Armageddon game (5 vs. 4) on 29 August at 13:00 local time. that one dislike is from the bishop that carlsen likes to give up in the beginning of his games
  • @oscaro.172
Man, Magnus really did "pull a Magnus" in this tournament, starting off mediocre but pulling off two wins in a row at the end to finish first. Crazy.

Agad's efficiency makes him an excellent creator of content
  • @leerobbo92
Carlsen now 90 classical games without a loss, almost exclusively playing in super tournaments. Incredible stuff.
  • @zeal7641
Gary Kasparov said in an interview to Yasser yesterday that "The thing with Magnus is that Once he gets that single win then He's unstoppable beast. The Flood gate of wins opens for him the moment he gets his win" and You saw how he won against Wesley So and Now against MVL and now heading to playoff. Mind This Mr. World Champion has never lost in playoffs or tiebreakers. Ding barely survived this tournament against Vishy. God have a grace on him. #BeastMode of Magnus is on. Let's see what happens to Sergey as Ian lost against Giri blundering 3rd time in this tournament. What an amazing guy Nepo is. 6 decisive result out of 11 and also Vishy drew in his last round against Hikaru and said in an interview if Magnus had been in his position getting those solid positions on the board consecutively, he would have scored 6+. Unfortunate, Vishy played too positionally rather than tactically. Waiting for the last result, seems like Sergey gonna win against Caruana. And We're gonna have 3 way tie for the playoff. Let's wait for Rapid (G10+5). #BeastMagnus is back. (Edit - We're gonna have 2 way tie, Sergey fucked up his solid position against Caruana and made it a draw just like Vishy has done 5 times in the tournament so far.)

"A very nice rook lift" might go on my gravestone
  • @landwolf00
I was just watching the St. Louis Chess coverage of this game... and here you are! Magician of Croatia :D Edit: at 8:01 he doesn't have a bishop and knight for a rook (notice the white knight on f3). It's just positional domination.
