This man should be in prison not participating in Olympics.
  • “He served one year of a four-year sentence” 😐 Such a trash punishment.
  • @spooky986
I am Dutch and signed the petition against him particepating. I feel shame this sex offender is representing my country. I once was 19. A 12 year old was clearly a child and not someone to be sexual interested in. Only predators do that.

Bruh, I can't get a job at a Supermarket because of a felony conviction for theft but they'll let a child rapist compete in the Olympics. Wtf?
  • @nate6045
"He attributes his crime to being a teenager" I was a teenager too and I never assaulted a 12 year old girl. Wtf kind of excuse is that?
  • @leibatt2
They picked this guy to represent their country over others who haven't assaulted a twelve year old? That's sick.
  • @fhxs
1 year of 4 year sentence for violating and altering the life of a child? What a joke.
  • @Balletcalvero
No normal 19 year-old looks at a 12 year-old with sexual intentions. It has nothing to do with him being a teenager. He's a predator plain and simple.
  • Should 100% be banned from competitive sports and should still be in a prison.
  • @BurntSienna
If you read the dutch news, all of the comments are like this. " He served his punishment. So he can engage. If he's not allowed in the olympics, aren't we giving him a life sentence?" I disagree. Letting him compete in the olympics shows no integrity and morals in a country.
  • The country of Netherlands should be ashamed of themselves for allowing this man to even compete let alone not lock him in a prison
  • My heart broke to his victim imagine seeing your r4pist not only got away with his crime but competing in Olympics and your country celebrated him I'm disgusted
  • Some countries are overly concerned with rehabilitation. Imagine wanting to send your best, the pride of your country, and one of them violated a child. The Dutch Committee should be ashamed. There is absolutely no excuse for what he did. I do not know a single person that wanted to touch a 12-year-old at 19, myself included.
  • A one year sentence for raping a 12year old. Thats insane. What a disgrace
  • @Tarotbyjessa
0:59 Dutch Olympic Committee says "Van De Velde has grown and positively changed his life" What about the lifetime consequences to the 12 year old child?
  • I’m Dutch, and I’m embarrassed and ashamed that such a person is still allowed to participate. Absolutely ridiculous
  • @Moobeus
The biggest irony, the British judge that sentenced him literally said “you’ve thrown away everything you could have become”. Unfortunately, the judge was more moral than the Dutch government.

He was 19 HE WAS NOT A CHILD. doesn't matter how much he changed that little girl will never forget it
