The reason the game pivots you to side quests, particularly in the early game, is because they hope you'll understand that optional doesn't mean unimportant. They also pace your playing initially to help you get your bearings with the systems, because it expects you to understand how to accomplish certain things yourself later on. Eventually you'll be able to do main story unimpeded, but that does require playing the game enough to raise your Adventure Rank. If you don't want to do that by playing side quests, logging in every day to do dailies and spend resin will not only help you level your characters, but will allow you to progress without being stopped by your Adventure Rank.

Wish there was a good video covering the Genshin world lore, but the timeline is still a "doodle" even after over 3 years. Still, even with what we know, it's insane.

4:30 its Ganyu, during the Archon war a monster tried to eat her but her ass stuck on his throat and died. Its actual in game lore😆

If you REALLY wanna take a plunge and see just how much info you can handle at once, you should watch Max0r's Genshin videos, he has two of them but the old one is HEAVILY outdated, but could still be worthy of watching for the context it grants the newer one.

if it's fan content we're getting into now, i'd highly recommend the hoyofair animations, particularly any of the works by the team behind KIERU (channel name)
they're simply the cream of the crop in my eyes

Echoing the other comments, reacting to some Hoyofairs (either some specific videos or livestreaming reactions to the entire Hoyofair streams) would be super cool!

You should watch Stupendiums’ genshin song! “A Summary In Sumeru”. I feel like something like that would be right up your alley!

Genshin’s quest web can be difficult to navigate when you’re not up to date with the latest story. It’s also interesting to see that you are not familiar with some of the more “basic” characters like Sucrose. But that is unfortunately one of the downfalls to starting Genshin late. Most of our interactions so far with Sucrose has been via limited content.

I heavily recommend playing Genshin as you want to play Genshin despite the back-seat drivers. They are there to watch you play, not tell you what to do. I know a few streamers who came to that conclusion and had a better experience for it. I respect and understand Chats passion, but you should be free to enjoy the content as you want to :)

Rawfler's Genshin .EXE videos are great and pretty funny. I recommend them if you want more Genshin related videos to watch. Just pick a character and go. (Noelle's videos are the best though lol)

It's understandable to want to enjoy the main story, but it can be difficult to understand the main quests and characters without the world quests and other additional story content. Genshin is a game that's very heavy on side quests, and very much story-oriented -- everything has lore, and pretty much everything is connected in some form or another. But it can be very rewarding to take your time, and read through some texts every now and then. Though this is coming from someone extremely enamored with the game's lore and the characters.

Also, I wouldn't trust this video's summaries of the characters. It's mostly for comedy, and only brushes the surface level for the majority.

That's how the story is because you're still near the start. At your rate the story will get good in like 6 months 😅

you should watch the new genshin impact timeline it's a 1 hour video but it does an amazing job basically giving you tldr of everything that happens in the game (although it has some spoilers near the end)
