Little older but Christmas morning 1976 there it was under the tree a giant box 2 feet long or more , tore open the paper and gasped at the sight of it .. Space 1999 Eagle Transporter , it was huge. Those were magical times. Great channel man , fantastic.
  • As a child of thrifty parents I had about half of these because they were on clearance and that is just how things went. Go Bot command center doubled as Star Wars AT-AT and served to supply me with a really fantastic birthday. Battle Beast sets went with me everywhere, especially to my cousin Dan's. Oh! And you could not contain my excitment when I found out the Wheeled Warriors base had a crazy amount of stickers to apply. Joy! However, my favorite was the Starriors Cobra Armored Battle Station! That guy acted as a base for Cobra Commander and Battle Beasts, not to mention the actual Starriors themselves. Plus it just looked cool on it's own.

Castle of Lion in 2nd tier??? BLASPHEMY!!!!! IT's the BEST of the 80s. It stands in my room as my favorite playset.
  • @FatBoyLucha
I had the Castle of Lions. Had some pretty cool features for my little kid imagination!

so about 8 years ago or so I boght a bunch of random stuff in a box of 80's toys on ebay. There were some brown pieces I could not identify, until now. I have 2 of the 4 pieces of the Other Worlds castle play set. 1 floor and one laddar!

I would like to add the toys from "Black star" these were a kind of MOTU style figures from Galoob. The action figures came with a ton weapons, and most of them had glow in the dark parts. I remember finding these in a local store WAAAAY back in the day and I thought they were awesome. if I may make a recommendation the figure TONGO was my favorite and I still have it.
  • Love it bro. Best playsets I had Death Star, fort Apache, Guns of Navarone, Space 1999 Eagle.

2 that comes to mind not mentioned would be the Filmation Ghostbusters Ghost Command and the inflatable Flash Gordon rocket ship - but love the nostalgic trip offered!

OTHER WORLDS!!! I'd forgotten about that but I am proud as hell to say I had a ton of those, and they must've been sold seperately coz I didn't have that playset. Probably some of my favourite toys as a kid.

I had no idea that The Love Boat and M*A*S*H had their own playsets and action figures. I did have some of the Glamour Girls action figures. Now, I would just love to have had the Love Boat playset and action figures. I could get my Glamour Girls and the M*A*S*H action figures to be the guest stars on the Pacific Princess.

As a young boy in the ā€˜80s I really wanted that Glamour Gals cruise ship (or the Love Boatā€™s Pacific Princess) to be hijacked by Cobra on the open seas only to be rescued by a small platoon of GI Joe on their Devilfish during a daring campaign at night. At least thatā€™s where my mind went when I saw that in the JC Penney catalog one fateful Christmas season. Great vid! Thanks for this.

So many great memories, but there were so many I had no clue about.

Ah slime and goo, I can almost smell it now. Unforgettable. Never made a mess with the stuff but I do have some regrets I did not give the care needed to the playsets and figures I quite frequently exposed them to multiple cans of. I remember they'd have those boxes of slime right at the register and I could get my mother to agree to get some MOTU or GB slime, it was like a dollar. And you would promise you wouldn't get it on your clothes or the carpet. They even sold slime in weird places not selling toys. Man, it would start getting nasty with dirt and hair though, you'd learn to try to keep that slime as pristine as possible for as long as you could, till it got nasty or one day you discovered it had become a spoonful of crusty boogers, and you attempted to reconstitute it! Slime was great! There are toy lines I liked and I had nearly a little of everything the glorious 80's toy buffet had to offer but I think I never got into secondary lines much, because looking back they only lasted maybe a year, maybe 2 and were gone. So I never thought much of it, like your favorite show being cancelled after a year and maybe going into syndication. You still had your staples and new things to try out. Now with disposable income there is probably very few lines I wouldn't have tried to collect for, certainly knowing how small they were if I had the means back then, barring only space really. I'd hate to have a collection though getting smashed under its own weight in a shed or warehouse somewhere.

I finally got the Hall of Justice off eBay about twenty years ago, including a last minute bidding war which ran it up just past $100. It had a noticeable brown stain (soda?) on top, and little to no accessories. It was too small to work with my Total Justice/JLA figures, but I didnā€™t get to do much with it, as I was forced to move shortly after. It spent the next couple years in storage until I finally got resettled. No one would help me get my stuff out, and ā€œout of sight, out of mindā€ = I lost thousands of comics and most of my toy collection, along with a few family furniture pieces people got mad at me for losing. I threw ā€œyou REFUSED to help me get it out!ā€ right in their faces. Even just the thought of how much I lost made me physically ill for years after. šŸ¤¬šŸ˜¢
